WillH 01-07-2022, 07:35 PM Commanders is probably the name well most likely the name actually… the W is legit since we know it was on that helmet..
Really it all adds up
DCFC could
Be our nickname like “skins” was
I believe this is pretty legitI think "Cums" is a better shorthand

skinsfan69 01-07-2022, 07:47 PM Actually it's not inept it is covering their own ass. If they tried to have a name release with fans present then there would be 2 large segments; those wanting Redskins and vocally chanting Hail to the Redskins, and a group heckling and howling for Redwolves. Then there would be a small minority whose applause would be drowned out by the other 2 groups shouts.

You have to start w/ your customers, your base- and try and make amends w/ them, instead of running and acting scared. Take it on the chin if needed. As hard core as I am about not changing the name I would 100% be respectful if I were to attend.

Can you replace the people’s team with Fuck them hoes
skinsfan69 01-07-2022, 07:55 PM That graphic is horrendous. Way too busy. I can't wait for this to be over. They have dragged this out to the point where it is exhausting.
The people’s team? Is this a play on America’s team?
JFC…everytime I think it can’t get worse…
This is so stupid that Snyder probably loves it.
FrenchSkin 01-07-2022, 07:59 PM I'm not gonna make real decisions on the logo/uniforms until I see full uniforms.
The name is blah if Commanders is actually the name. The definition of average. Generic and boring. But that's what's acceptable now. Don't want to offend even 1 person.I have been very reluctant to get into this part of the debate. And I want to preface this by saying I have several friends who were in the military, a couple went to Afghanistan, and actually a couple of ex American soldiers, one of whom went to Irak. All great men, great souls, and I have nothing but respect for their courage, and compassion for the deep psychological scars some of them have because of what they went through. My grandfather was a career officer, fought in WW2 and stayed in the military all his life, one of the nicest and full of love human being I've known.
This being said, I have to admit I am a bit perplexed at one thing : everybody (not only here, on Twitter and FB too) is trying to anticipate how any name could become offensive in some way at some point in time, sometimes quite over reaching. I've read Wolves could be seen as a celebration of sex offenders... Don't know if said in good faith or not. We are now thinking the color Red in a name is not 100% safe... And the NFL has a strict policy when it comes to celebrating guns/weapons, Josh Norman was fined a decent amount for his bow and arrow celebration IIRC... But almost nobody seems to think that celebrating the military, hence the war, hence the killing of millions human beings, could one day be seen as somewhat offensive...
I don't want to get into a debate about recent wars and all, but if you're ready to think that somehow Redhawks would be seen as offensive one day, don't you think a name celebrating war wouldn't be that cool at some point in history ?
I understand and respect that honoring the military in the US is a big thing, and, right now, quite consensual... But things evolve, maybe it won't always be the case...

skinsfaninok 01-07-2022, 08:08 PM Jason Wright said from day 1 “we want a name that represents the DC area”
Once he said that the name Redwolves was never in play. They will say “we tried” but we all know better.
Commanders fits the area and no other team has that name in any of the major pro sports.
The nba has the Timberwolves and Warriors.
Baseball has the Braves
Can’t copy those teams.
Be original

Envoyé de mon SHV48 en utilisant TapatalkImagine if the name were Commanders during the Vietnam War. Protests at the stadium.
Does anyone remember the player in the late 80s I believe that said the gridiron was like preparing for war and he was roundly criticized for the comparison.
I hope this is just something that let's us all say, at least it (whatever the name is) is better than those options.
