Chief X_Phackter 01-06-2022, 03:44 PM The NCAA doesn't have revenue sharing like the NFL and each school relies on sales of merch and donors to keep their programs afloat so any copyright infringement where an outside entity could possibly be making money off their trademarks is a no no.
Hmmm. Still seems petty. As if Chapman KS, population probably less than 2000, is going to somehow put a dent in Notre Dame's profits by using that logo/mascot.

I totally agree but that is the thinking/reasoning behind it.
JackLord 01-06-2022, 03:54 PM Do you read your own posts? You clearly stated that the Bulldogs G look like the packers one, that's what I was referring to.
Not only do I read them, but I write them too.
I simply pointed out an example of one team using another teams name or image. I said nothing about any legal issues, ramifications, or artistic theft. Totally irrelevant, at least from my laymen's perspective.
OK?
Swarley 01-06-2022, 03:55 PM I actually like Redtails as I have huge respect for the Tuskegee Airmen-I intentionally took my son to an event to meet one of them because I wanted him to see the embodiment of service, courage, and unselfishness, especially under extreme conditions.
I just fear that when we are bad- and history shows we pretty much always will be- then other fans are going to use it against us.
to be fair, having Wart in the name wouldn't be any better
Regardless, the opposing team will find a way to make fun.

this is actually a really interested twitter thread if anyones interested

This is why I have less than 800 posts since 2004.

And I reckon none of them have you admitting you misread something,
SunnySide 01-06-2022, 04:16 PM Admirals .... assmirals, un admirals, admiral assholes, the urinals
'The Urinals" will be the name other fans will call us imo.

Didn't you bring that up as an example of how it can be done? So why wouldn't legal issues, ramifications, etc be considered?

As explained, that was not my intention. I am not an Intellectual Property Attorney.
Mtk was stating something akin to there already being this or that name in the league. I simply pointed out that lots of different teams have the same name (Eagles for example).
Mentioning the G was just a slightly different observation. Nothing more, nothing less.
CRedskinsRule 01-07-2022, 02:08 AM Finlay said on Twitter that the name reveal will happen in NYC on the Today show.
Got some new info on Washington Football name reveal coming from a team source. The actual name reveal is in NYC on Today Show but more is planned for 2.2.22
Will explain now on @1067theFan
