It's about branding and individual team identity to sell merch which is why it wouldn't work.

Nonsense. It would work brilliantly.

We already have logos which would work- the Lombardi logo and the scripted R made famous by Joe Gibbs.

And I have no doubt that someone artistically talented, perhaps you, could come up with some new stuff to with it.

Many also use Rams, Eagles, Jets, and Cardinals. A lot used Redskins. Several still do.

And if you watch next Monday's championship, you might note that the Georgia Bulldog "G" bears a striking resemblance to that in use by Green Bay.

A friend of mine is fond of saying, If you think of it, it's been done.

If you look it up the Bulldogs G has been approved by Greenbay for them to use.

Also highschool teams around the country have also been allowed to use NFL logos and names for some time now with the NFL's blessing.

Now you Know. :D

That is great that Green Bay did that. It doesn't always work that way though.

The high school my wife went to in Kansas - Chapman High School - was apparently using Notre Dame's leprechaun as their high school mascot. If it wasn't identical, it was close enough I guess. Anyway, after their town was basically half-wiped out in 2008 by a F5 tornado, the news coverage they received brought attention to the town and the high school. With that, Notre Dame discovered that Chapman High School called themselves The Fighting Irish and were using the leprechaun mascot. Instead of somehow allowing them to keep their mascot, Notre Dame chose instead to require the school to change their logo. So now they have a new logo, and they are the Chapman Irish instead of The Fighting Irish...

Petty... and another reason for me to despise Notre Dame.

The NCAA doesn't fuck around with their logos and will chase any place that uses them and that makes sense. The NFL is much more generous with the use of their logos.

Why does that make more sense than being more generous as with the NFL?

The NCAA doesn't have revenue sharing like the NFL and each school relies on sales of merch and donors to keep their programs afloat so any copyright infringement where an outside entity could possibly be making money off their trademarks is a no no.

It wasn't a legal question. We were simply discussing names already in use. No talk of laws, trademarks, sanctions, and the like.

You have every right to fully disagree with what I say, but you cannot change the subject to fit your point. That is either sloppy or dishonest.

Once again, I welcome your counter points, but please pay attention to what is actually being stated.

To be fair, it's hard to have this discussion without keeping the legalities in mind as well. Otherwise, it's a pointless discussion not based in reality.

Do you read your own posts? You clearly stated that the Bulldogs G look like the packers one, that's what I was referring to.
