BaltimoreSkins 01-06-2022, 02:30 PM Your right sorry SS and all mooby 01-06-2022, 02:32 PM Idk about you guys but I saw some birds (https://vintonmessenger.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2020/07/Redtails.jpg) with red tails the other day and I thought they looked cool. Would be pretty sweet to have that as a team name. jamf 01-06-2022, 02:37 PM I hate saying Warthogs out loud. The T screws it up and warts are gross. https://www.allyson-skin.care/images/common-warts.jpg MTK 01-06-2022, 02:37 PM Everyone knows that "Redtails" is a reference to the Tuskegee Airmen and not an actual bird right? I've seen some comments to that effect in this thread. Someone else suggested Redhawks which is what I thought we were talking about MTK 01-06-2022, 02:41 PM Is that possible in today's world? The OK sigh is now construed as racist so I imagine nothing can't be at some point. Now we're really going down the rabbit hole I think they just want to avoid any possible connotation to skin color, that's all Summo 01-06-2022, 02:41 PM Someone else suggested Redhawks which is what I thought we were talking about I know you know but I seen others confusing the two, or me for that matter ;) Also does anyone really think NFL properties would approve "Redhawks" when they already have a "Seahawks"? MTK 01-06-2022, 02:49 PM I know you know but I seen others confusing the two, or me for that matter ;) Also does anyone really think NFL properties would approve "Redhawks" when they already have a "Seahawks"? Probably not, but the main reason is the name is already in use by several other teams (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redhawks) JackLord 01-06-2022, 02:51 PM I know you know but I seen others confusing the two, or me for that matter ;) Also does anyone really think NFL properties would approve "Redhawks" when they already have a "Seahawks"? Hmmm.... Let's see. Red, Sea, Red, Sea, Sea, Red, Red & Sea, Redhawks, Seahawks..... Yea I am completely befuddled. They are like mirror images of one another. Worse than There and Their. :confused?: Summo 01-06-2022, 02:56 PM Hmmm.... Let's see. Red, Sea, Red, Sea, Sea, Red, Red & Sea, Redhawks, Seahawks..... Yea I am completely befuddled. They are like mirror images of one another. Worse than There and Their. :confused?: It's about branding and individual team identity to sell merch which is why it wouldn't work. JackLord 01-06-2022, 02:57 PM Probably not, but the main reason is the name is already in use by several other teams (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redhawks) Many also use Rams, Eagles, Jets, and Cardinals. A lot used Redskins. Several still do. And if you watch next Monday's championship, you might note that the Georgia Bulldog "G" bears a striking resemblance to that in use by Green Bay. A friend of mine is fond of saying, If you think of it, it's been done. |
