A bit before my time - but seemed he had universal respect amongst his peers on the field and in the booth - at least during his heydey.

RIP.

To this day the biggest FU the NY Giants have ever made. Allie Sherman sent him to Washington . He and Sherman didn't get along and the HC had trade authority .Wellington hated it but didn't want to over rule his HC.

Huff was the premier Line backer of his time. he set the standard, Jim Brown hated playing against him.

^^ Violent World of Sam Huff ... never seen this before but it was the first time a player was ever mic'd up. ill watch this tonight on the couch.

Too young to see him play but I remember hearing him on the radio if I was in the car listening to the game.

Listening to him and drunk Sonny was always fun.

Rest In Peace Sam Huff

Sam's playing days were before my time as well. But he entrenched himself into the Redskins Universe with his 2nd career in broadcasting. A perfect team, the biased but erudite Frank Herzog with his two fun-loving, whisky-swilling, grinning from ear-to-ear sidekicks, Sonny and Sam.

That was one of the lesser noticed, but cool things about the Gibbs Era. A chunk of the prior generation was still around and involved. Sonny & Sam doing games, Charlie and Ritchie working as assistant head coaches, and the great Bobby Mitchell in the front office.

RIP Sam. You will be missed.

P.S. When you see Don Meredith, say "hello" for us.

I was a child during most of orgional Gibbs Era, and I grew up listening [emoji101] to 'Frank, Sonny, and Sam' on WMAL AM 630!

Every Redskins Football [emoji458] Sunday, my parents would have the Redskins football [emoji458] game on the TV [emoji342] with the TV [emoji342] sound [emoji344] turned down [emoji116] and the WMAL AM 630 radio [emoji343] broadcast turned up [emoji115]

I still miss the radio [emoji343] broadcast team of 'Frank, Sonny, and Sam'

RIP Big Sam! You will be very Missed!

We did that too. Unless it was Summerall and Madden on TV.
