If I remember right, Gilmore refused to participate in the training camp because he wanted a contract extension. Bill doesn't usually play well with players who tried to leverage against Bill when it comes to money. Gilmore definitely lost a step but I think he can still contribute some on the field. I think they might be freeing up cap space to reload for next season and giving up on a guy that has been injured. To say Gillmore is trash is not right either. I doubt Gillmore will regain 2019 defensive player of the year ability. But if Gillmore can get healthy he can help a playoff team.
