ESPN's redskins offseason overviewgortiz 06-08-2005, 05:54 PM Becuase of my ban on ESPN.com and P-Belly I haven't gone on that website in MONTHS. . .the streak is over. Sean"Big Hurt"Taylor 06-08-2005, 05:55 PM I also believe that we have the most talented o-line but it remain to be seen will they walk the walk. the key will be can cp be patient and the holes open for him instead of him blasting pass our lineman. the switch to zone blocking will also help cp break those game-breaking runs during the games. with that said will might be a fun season to be a redskin fan.as long as we resolve that sean taylor saga. monk81 06-08-2005, 07:40 PM "The addition of Casey Rabach gives the Redskins the most talented offensive line in the division" :) :httr: The hogs are back..........err dirtbags. Yep it all starts in the trenches. Hopefully our line can now help Ramsey, the receiving corp, and Portis. saden1 06-08-2005, 08:11 PM Dockery isn't that bad. His first year, he was thrown in there as a rookie. For a 3rd rounder he did an OK job IMO. Last year he was decent (I think he was hurt at some point too). This year he'll take a few steps forward as he has a few years under his belt and great coaching staff. If he gets hurt you better believe it will be bad news. TheMalcolmConnection 06-08-2005, 08:52 PM I also believe that we have the most talented o-line but it remain to be seen will they walk the walk. the key will be can cp be patient and the holes open for him instead of him blasting pass our lineman. the switch to zone blocking will also help cp break those game-breaking runs during the games. with that said will might be a fun season to be a redskin fan.as long as we resolve that sean taylor saga. I think that with our athletes back and being signed (Jansen and Rabach), Portis won't have to wait as long giving him more yards with those horses running in front of him. mooby 06-08-2005, 08:59 PM i thought they were adjusting the system to fit portis' style of running. gibbs wanted a jamal lewis kinda guy, but that's not clinton portis. plus we should be using the shotgun formation a bit more this season and that will help ramsey. we should be better this season on offense, especially if our o-line stays healthy. the o-line is key because it's involved on every play, on passing plays it protects the quarterback, and on running plays it pushes the d-line backward so portis gets yards. i look for us to move up a lot on offense this season. the other key to a better offense is less injuries, better consistency. TheMalcolmConnection 06-08-2005, 09:07 PM Honestly, I would rather we have a light preseason. Keep our starters rested as long as we can. I don't want anyone getting hurt. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 06-08-2005, 11:13 PM The article claims this is a "do or die year" for the skins becuase our contracts were loaded to give us a "two year window" to win the SB. I just do not believe that. Didn't we restructure Arrington Jansen, and Samuels? And didn't we move Coles in a way that takes all the cap hit this season? Do we really implode in 2006? Maybe I don't get the cap structure at all (very likely--Canuck? Help?!?), but this isn't correct I think. It was a very balanced article, overall. And from ESPN, no less! My understanding is that one or two key starters may have to be let go next season along with restructuring several deals. I don't know what the FO can pull off in terms of cap wheeling and dealing, but it's looks like we're headed for cap trouble (but perhaps not cap doom). Sheriff Gonna Getcha 06-08-2005, 11:15 PM I think the talent is there to do well (with Portis and the O-line) but not dominate. Assuming Gibbs has changed (opened up) his playbook, it all comes down to Ramsey. I don't know what the FO can pull off in terms of cap wheeling and dealing, but it's looks like we're headed for cap trouble (but perhaps not cap doom). This concerns me. |
