Since there is nothing to talk about other than mother F&*#ing moron Taylor, I thought I'd share this observation:

We could have pulled together ALL SIX first-rounds WR picks from 2001 and still had a very unimpressive WR corps:

D. Terrell - 8th overall pick (even the Bears didn't want him)
Koren Robinson - 9th overall pick (kicked to the curb for being an idiot)
Rod Gardner - 15th overall pick ("drop it like it's hot" Rod)
Santana Moss - 16th overall pick (I hope he turns out to be a stud, but so far his career has been unspectacular)
Freddy Mitchell - 25th overall pick (Fredex sent packing by the Iggles, mostly likely due to his playoff haircut last year)
Reggie Wayne - 30th overall pick (above average WR, but how much of that is due to Peyton's arm and Harrison drawing extra coverage?)

What a total bust of a draft year!

Aside from that, which of the WR's currently on our roster will be cut before the season starts?? Currently we have 13 WR's & I figure we'll only keep 5. Below is the roster and my guess at the probability that they will make the team:

Moss - 100%
Gardner - 10%
Jacobs - 100%
Patton - 90%
Thrash - 100%
Brown - 85%
McCants - 75%
Dyson - 75%
Black - 5%
Farris - 2%
Holiday -2%
Harris - 2%
Parson - 1%

I actually think Reggie Wayne is a stud, regardless of who is throwing him the ball. He's not afraid to go after any ball, regardless of the hit he's about to take. Great hands, tough guy, fast as hell........gotta say I love RW's abilities. Other than that, an accurate assessment of a bunch of WRs who just haven't lived up to the first round billing.

I'd say Moss, Jacobs, Patten, Thrash, McCants are all definites to make the team. I don't see Brown getting cut either. Dyson I'm still scratching my head over, but it looks like he'll make it. The others have no chance of making the active roster as far as I can tell. A few practice squad guys maybe.

Of course that would have us carrying 7 WRs.......which seems like a lot......so I'm probably wrong about one of them.

I actually like the Dyson signing. It gives us a McCants that might actually TRY.

I think Dyson is more or less a buffer. Also brought in to challenge guys like McCants.

I personally think he McCan!

Santana will be a stud. to me he is in the same mold as coles with more speed. he adds more intangibles during key moments in the game and i believe he will help benefit this team better than coles.

I like Moss, he just needs to show he can be tough. Coles was as tough as they came.

Does Moss really have more speed than Coles? I heard Coles once ran under a 4.2 40. That is insane. I guess now with Coles' toe problem, Moss would be faster.

Coles WAS fast (and he may be again, for all we know), but Moss can fly. The main thing is can he stay healthy, and can we get him the ball with room to move?

Good post, AJFC--shows how tough it is to pick em in the draft. Wonder if Mike Williams will be a boom or a bust?

That's true....I just hated the fact that we couldn't use Coles at his healthiest. :cheeky-sm

nope. the guy had off the field issues. on the field he was a great talent though, he would've been better if he had been healthy.
