It’s certainly a balance with multi layers to consider: new joiners on the team, new coaches joining the team, injury history of players, depth at certain positions, etc
This last week in preseason, there is no one in hell I’m playing starters. You got guys fighting to make the team and others who maybe half assing playing thinking about the after hours party later. That is a recipe for injury.
This isn't a sport where you can afford to go out on the field and half-ass it. At this point in their careers, that would just be foolish. If that is the choice a player makes, then he probably doesn't deserve to wear the uniform.
I don't see that happening on this team in particular.
Call it old school, new school - whatever. This is new. Three preseason games a two week break, and then a 17 game season. Everyone is just trying to figure out what works best for their team.
I think the two week break is actually going to be the deciding factor as to whether or not "starters" for the WFT play this weekend. I think there will probably be plenty playing at least briefly, and I'm ok with that.
