I'm gonna put myself outthere right now...12-6 win division wind up in NFC Championship vs. Tampa but come up short.

Watching last season highlights, i had forgotten how often our team gave up more than 10 points, often 20 before the offense and defense seemed to get on track. That definitely needs to change this year, and having a full offseason ought to help. Our defense in the second half of games played virtual shutouts. If they can be on track from start to finish, we should win games with our offense reaching 20 consistently.

If Fitz finds his sweet spot with our WR group, man we could actually see a few real blowouts this year.

It could be an amazing team.

I agree, but the key to that is the OL, and to a lesser degree, turnovers. The slow starts appeared largely due to not sustaining drives and giving the D a rest and/or turning the ball over in bad positions. If this OL is improved, rejuvenated and can control the clock better, then that in turn should help the D play better too. There's also the psychological factor of the D not feeling like they have to bail the O out all the time and win games for them.

Scott Turner will need to be better prepared also. I think our opening drives yielded 1 score? That won't cut it. Who here doesn't believe that if the WFT can get ahead early our defense can go into lockdown mode?

Agreed, but it's hard to be consistent behind a colander of an OL!

And starting Haskins and Smith for almost all your games...

Let's not act like it was at the OL that held our QB's back last year.

No, but establishing the run is a key component of controlling the clock and sustaining drives. Against better defences we struggled last year and against some of the best DL's (LA!) the OL looked distinctly average. They should be much improved this season, with a year under these coaches, not to mention the additions.
