BaltimoreSkins 05-01-2021, 09:45 AM We're not talking about the same thing. You're saying there are areas we can approve, which is true. I'm saying I don't see a massive obvious hole on this roster. Like last year at the same time I'd have said the left side of our OL, TE and our WR corps where real and obvious weaknesses. Logan Thomas and Wes Schweitzer ended up being real nice surprises. But before the season started those were worrying roster holes. I don't see that on our roster this year.
How it'll actually turn out is a whole different conversation though.

Agree with you buddy. All teams even great ones have holes. Look at the final four this year Tampa, Green Bay, Buffalo and KC all had issues. Tampa probably most complete team but hey when you fall as backwards into the GOAT at a bargain price and then he convinces his freak of nature friend to unretire that really helps.
We aren't saying we are there yet... but we have the pieces in place to get us there
Defensewins 05-01-2021, 10:15 AM The more I read about T Cosmi the better I feel about the pick.
At first I was a little surprised and maybe disappointed.
However I read Cosmi is an excellent athlete with size. His PFF pass pro scores are good. Cosmi ran the fastest 40-yard dash for an offensive lineman at his pro day. He ran the 40 in 4.84 seconds.
Seems like a guy that with help from John Matsko, will develop over time.
Cosmi played HS ball in Texas and College ball in UT, so he has played against top level competition.
Monkeydad 05-01-2021, 10:45 AM Solid picks in positions of need.
I disagree with the analysts saying QB is an immediate need. It is not for this season. Long-term, yes, but we're good with the trio we have now, especially Fitz.
Offense starting to look scary too...so deep at WR and I don't know who to cut. I feel AGG needs a shot in a normal season, rookies were at a disadvantage last year with no preseason. Wright and Harmon deserve to stay. Sims, Jr. is gone, especially with that return specialist from Houston we signed.
Either LB Jabrill Cox or TE Brevin Jordan needs to be our next pick! I can't believe they're both still available.
Real bummer we could have had JOK as the Browns took him just after us, but Coach Rivera clearly has a plan to fill holes and is sticking to it. Refreshing to see.

Read THIS: (bolded)
Washington Football Team selected Texas OT Samuel Cosmi with the No. 51 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Cosmi (6’7/310), ranked outside the top-100 OTs in his recruiting class by the 247Sports composite, vastly exceeded expectations in college as a three-year starter and two-time All-Big 12 selection. Cosmi played LT and RT in Austin, and comes with more than enough athleticism to be a potential option on the left side in the NFL. Cosmi tested as the second-most athletic RAS tackle to enter the NFL since 1987. Cosmi's 40 (4.87), broad jump (9’9), short shuttle (4.39) and bench (36) all ranked top-15 all-time for tackles. Cosmi moves like a tight end and has plenty of upper-body pop, with a veteran's understanding of his assignments. But hip stiffness causes Cosmi to play too high, which can sap him of power and teeter his balance. And with 33-inch arms (same as Rashawn Slater), Cosmi doesn’t have the reach his height suggests. Opponents erase Cosmi’s athletic and strength advantages when they win the leverage battle and get him on his heals, which K'Lavon Chaisson did in the 2019 opener. We see Cosmi similarly to Taylor Decker, a former first-rounder who’s been an above-average player his entire four-year NFL career, if never dominant.

SunnySide 05-01-2021, 10:52 AM Almost every draft there’s the “could have taken” players I compare our guy to.
Payne vs derwin James
Scherff vs Leonard Williams
Davis-cosmi vs darrisaw-jok

Based on how things folded out with the Payne and Scherff picks, I would make the same choices if I could go back.

Yeah, can’t count the number of posts on various boards bemoaning the fact we never drafted linemen and then the number of posts complaining when we did....

I'd love it if we could draft one (or both, if we got super lucky) of those players!
KI Skins Fan 05-01-2021, 11:30 AM Looking to grab Tight End and Running Back in the 4th and 5th
Long snapper in the 7th
Call Tre Boston for free safety.
Good idea! He could help us a lot. I believe that we're going to get a solid FS somehow, somewhere this season.
AnonEmouse 05-01-2021, 11:34 AM Come on man Holcomb is a solid player, Curl is exciting and Jeremy Reaves played pretty well.
All I'm saying is there's a world between those guys and having freakin Troy Apke as our starting FS and only one good starting LB.

Agreed, and what we have to also account for is how much the improvements we've made not only improve their positions, but also the positions around them. 3 good WR = forcing defenses to decide who to double, leaving 1 or both the other guys more open (+Thomas). Improve OL = less pressure on passing game and defense (longer drives etc.). Better run D (LB and DB) = more opportunities to pressure pass offenses and get turnovers.
But it also improves the players. With better corners and LBs around him, the whole DL and Holcombe should improve. Better corners means the Ss should look better (especially if we pick up a FS starter this weekend). Dangerous WRs to complement him means McL should look even better, and it won't hurt Thomas either especially if we get a TE.
For me if we pick up FS, TE, LB and OL with the remaining picks I'd be happy. Even a QB.
