I remember seeing that 4 years ago. A littler closer to home:
https://www.wmar2news.com/news/local-news/report-baltimore-city-has-nations-second-highest-gun-related-death-rate
Baltimore City has nation's second highest gun-related death rate
Of course this is the direct action of Baltimore’s irresponsible prosecutors who refuse to enforce laws and often don’t prosecute illegal gun possession. We know most gun crime is committed with an illegal gun…75-85%.
So why are folks who hate guns refuses to prosecute those who have illegal guns?
Let’s look at another Baltimore corrupt politician who under federal indictment:
Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore: Elected in 2014 as Baltimore state’s attorney, Mosby was one of the first prosecutors to campaign on a platform of de-prosecution, decarceration, and denouncing the police. Once in office, she delivered on her promises. The results for Baltimore have been devastating. Homicides in the city shot up to 342 in her first year in office—a 38 percent increase—and have not dropped below 300 during any year of her tenure. Mosby has attacked the police relentlessly, including her attempt to prosecute six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, which resulted in no convictions and an ethics complaint against her. She refuses to prosecute entire categories of crimes, much to the dismay of Baltimore businesses. Mosby seems to have no substantive plans for the office, instead spending her time skipping work and traveling around the country, according to an inspector general’s report. Not surprisingly, Baltimore’s population has declined by 35,000 between 2010 and 2020, as residents continue to flee the violence-plagued city. Her only remaining supporters appear to be the convicted criminals she treats so leniently—a club that she might join.
Defund the police movement has failed and minority communities have suffered the consequences. Cities that installed these policies have blood on their hands…

Pikesville resident Ronald McKnight, 29, is facing multiple assault and weapon charges after allegedly threatening another man during the road-rage incident, which was reported at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 on Pulaski Highway near Harbor Road.
It is alleged that the victim told state police investigators that he pulled up behind McKnight’s Honda CRV, which was stopped in the middle of a travel lane on Pulaski Highway shortly before he was threatened.
Police said that the victim honked his horn at McKnight, though the CRV did not move, prompting him to walk up to the driver’s side of the vehicle to check on his well-being, believing him to be unresponsive.
When the victim approached the vehicle he found that McKnight was allegedly pointing a handgun at him through the window, according to state police. McKnight then fled the area.

Last year was one of the deadliest years on record for the United States. In 2021, gun homicides and non-suicide-related shootings took approximately 20,700 lives—a 6 percent increase from the first year of the pandemic in 2020, which already saw a significant increase in gun violence over 2019. At the same time, reports of road rage shootings increased significantly. The data is clear: With easy access to guns, road rage can turn deadly.
Experiencing aggressive driving on the road is not uncommon—roughly eight in 10 drivers surveyed by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety reported experiencing at least one incident in the month before the survey. But the presence of a gun can turn such an encounter from a few unpleasant minutes into a dangerous incident for the drivers involved, their passengers, and pedestrians as well.
Using Gun Violence Archive’s database to analyze road rage incidents involving a gun, Everytown Research & Policy determined that the number of road rage injuries and deaths have increased yearly since 2018. Rising to more than 500 people shot and wounded or killed in over 700 incidents, 2021 was tragically the worst year on record for road rage shootings. In other words, a person was shot and either injured or killed in a road rage incident every 17 hours, on average, during 2021.
In 2021, an average of 44 people per month were shot and killed or wounded in road rage shootings—double the pre-pandemic average.

These road rage gun events worry me. I dont out at night anymore unless its a high end restaurant and movie, dont get all drunk ... but i do drive at least 2 hours a day and eventually you end dealing with an aggressive asshole driver.
id like to see enhanced penalties for road rage incidents when a gun is involved.
When a drug dealer or some drunk tough guy who gets shot at 2 am, theres a level of the victim putting themselves somewhat in danger.
When its dads and moms driving to work or the grocery store at 2:30 in the afternoon ... that just hits different.

Cop Killer arrested, but he should have been in jail…
Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to felony charges of domestic violence and residential burglary after beating up and attacking his girlfriend, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. He was sentenced to six months in county jail and four years of felony probation.
Prosecutors were unable to file an enhancement for using a knife in Delcid's February domestic violence crime due to progressive directives implemented by Gascon.
Literally you can beat up your girlfriend with a knife and take her things in California and you can be out in a couple months in time to shoot kill people…because of democrats.
Imagine being so incompetent and a piece of shit to believe this guy should be walking the streets.

I dont think this is a R v D issue. I read a lot of right wing comment sections and most agree with and want penalties for people being stupid with a gun.
Enhanced penalties for guns in the commission of a crime has always been an agreeable issue. id say far left would be more against it bc of the disproportionate effect on POC and incentivicing (i cant pell that word right now) for police to do even more cracked window policing of low income areas.
DC police did this top Gun thing back in the 90s where officers got incentives for bringing guns off the street. I was 3rd chair for a case against an officer in DC federal court (civil rights/excessive force not re top gun but top gun was a part of it), the officer would just pull over every black male he saw, search their car and if he found a gun arrested them and get the incentives. If they didnt have a gun hed let them go.
Clear violations of a persons 4th but when youre a 24 black male in DC and a cop detains you searches you and lets yo go ... who do you complain to? Wasnt like it is now with cellphone cameras and in this climate of where police has lost presumed trustworthiness.
id just like to see an enhanced penalty for traffic road rage related events where a gun is displayed.
Road rage can effect anyone anywhere. bad part of town, good part of town, late at night or 2:30 in the afternoon.
Road rage doesnt care about the R or D.

I wish Fox News would expand on that and lay it out without doing a 7 word drive by and not explain exactly how.
I found a good Atlantic article below. Seems not using sentencing enhancement for weapons was one the policy changes. Like the article points out, the success stories of people not getting longer sentences and then not becoming a repeat offender are hard to quantify and dont get spotlighted but stories like the one Fox News is spotlighting get attention.
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2022/04/san-francisco-los-angeles-da-recalls/629701/
-----------------
I personally think sentence enhancement for weapons should be in play but I do worry about the discretionary use by states attorneys. Discretionary use can lead to discrimatory use ... and that is part of the systemic racism.
I do think we need to incarcerate misdemeanors less, have better programs and assistance .. and get away from private for profit jails.
Putting more people behind bars and for longer is not the answer.
24 US States individually led the world/any country in highest incarceration per capita.
That is fucking crazy. And its dominated by southern jail for profit States where it is systemic racism of a pipeline from states attorney to judge to private jailer.
We dont need more people in jail.
we dont need private for profit jails.
-------------
If we imagine every state as an independent nation, as in the graph above, every state appears extreme. 24 states would have the highest incarceration rate in the world — higher even than the United States. Massachusetts, the state with the lowest incarceration rate in the nation, would rank 17th in the world with an incarceration rate higher than Iran, Colombia, and all the founding NATO nations.
In fact, many of the countries that rank alongside the least punitive U.S. states, such as Turkey, Thailand, Rwanda, and Russia, have authoritarian governments or have recently experienced large-scale internal armed conflicts. Others struggle with “violent crime”
on a scale far beyond that in the U.S.: South Africa, Panama, Costa Rica, and Brazil all have murder rates more than double that of the U.S. Yet the U.S., “the land of the free,” tops them all.
