If GOP won't defend the Capitol, the Constitution or themselves, what do they stand for?

In this article:
WASHINGTON — Aquilino Gonell, a sergeant with the U.S. Capitol Police force, testified Tuesday that he put his duty to the Constitution ahead of the interests of his wife and son when he fought rioters at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
"This is how I'm going to die," he recalled thinking as his body was crushed in a violent scrum, "defending this entrance."
Of course, Gonell and other law enforcement officers were defending symbols of the republic that day — the Capitol, the Constitution and the sanctity of the ballot. But they were also safeguarding the physical security of the members of Congress, direct participants in republican governance, as well as then-Vice President Mike Pence.
It has been heartbreaking for Gonell and many of his colleagues on the Capitol and D.C. Metro police forces to watch Republican leaders in Congress pretend they weren't under threat.
"It was devastating and demoralizing for people, whatever the party is, to call this attack and continue to minimize it like nothing happened. It was an attempted coup that was happening in the Capitol that day," Gonell said in emotional testimony given under questioning by Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., who also fought back tears.
"We were fighting for our lives — to give you guys a chance to go home to your family, to escape. And now the same people we helped, the same people who — we gave them borrowed time to get to safety — now they're attacking us. They're attacking our characters," he continued. "It's a disgrace."
For months, Republican lawmakers have attacked the police officers who defended their lives so they can defend a former president who put them at risk, and they continue to do so.
Didn't take much for the right to flip on law enforcement. Truly sad and pathetic.

Here is my take on this for my conservative brothers here. I know you don't think dems get shit on enough here. I am pretty much hate all corporate politicians. Here we have a pharmaceutical plant in the U.S. employing 1,400 workers and paying them really ($31/hr vs an average of $17/hr). This should be pretty upsetting regardless of political affiliation. So why are national democrats being quiet on this? Well Joe Manchin is a moderate democrat in a state that has transitioned blue the last few decades. They can't lose that precarious seat in an already tight senate margin for votes so they are going to just let these people lose their jobs instead of doing the right thing.
This really and truly sucks.
Also good mention in that article - Joe Manchin's daughter was CEO of the old company when they raised the price of the Epipen 400%. "Nobody is more frustrated than I." LOL

Life is good as a politician or the family member of a politician.
No shame and no morals amongst a good lot of them. They must all be laughing at us peons.
And this world is full of greedy assholes.
For the shareholders = Fuck American workers
Will they drop all their prices now that they'll save on labor? I bet not.
I don't know what you do to stop these moves though?
As much as big businesses can be soulless penny chasers, the rules they play by are set up by our politicians. The whole system is against us commoners.

So obviously this is a bad look. But when it comes to Manchin, he is a dying breed in West Virginy which used to be all blue state…not anymore. Kasie Hunt…who opinions I generally loathe being she is a well paid liar…put it best once “Joe Manchin when it comes to West Virginia is the only game in town.” In reference for Democrats and his unwillingness to bend to progressives. He cannot be primary and his voters will not stand by him if he veers left. His margins have been steadily shrinking in races.
Democrats have no choice with Manchin on the federal scene or the state scene…there is no other Democrats there.

Today’s Anniversary of Medicare & Medicaid reminds us to reflect on the critical role these programs have played to protect the healthcare of millions of families. To safeguard our future, we must reject Socialist healthcare schemes.

Why weren't republican's outraged when the trump tariffs were hurting American farmers ? .My question to you is how do you stop this company from closing down and moving , tax incentives, it's West Virginia not likely . Another question is why aren't republicans screaming from the roof tops about how much money his daughter is making instead of Biden Hunter paintings?

The Biden admin stepped in to prevent a very similar plant in TN from moving difference is in a potential district to swing. Look you want me to defend Republican response to this it is not going to happen but democrats have routinely ran as the party of morality and standing up to corporations. I will call myself a democrat since Bernie brought me back into the fold but we can't be a party that says one thing and does another and be okay with it.

Agreed. This deserves way more attention and needs to be called out by other Dems.

Look like you I don't like any US jobs going anywhere. No Company packs up and moves that fast. This move has been planned for a while and all while trump was president . To me this falls on the leadership of the State and by that I mean all the politicians not party.

Bill knocks it out again and no Bill the AP isn’t a credible new source anymore. He appropriately crushes them. Anytime I see AP I expect I’m being lied too or I’m getting told half the story based solely on political purposes.
Culture appropriation is laughable made up bullshit by over sensitive clowns.
