Trying to forget or actively ignoring the ugly history in this country doesn't make it go away. It's a complicated issue, but one that's clearly being politicized to fire up the masses.

The Maddening Critical Race Theory Debate (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/28/opinion/critical-race-theory.html)

Talking about the history of the country isn’t the issue..in fact in the new Florida law-slavery, civil rights,etc is required to be taugh (thanks President DeSantis) . it’s the Marxist frame indoctrination in a false premise ala the 1619 lie. I don’t have a problem if you want to take a class in that garbage in college…but it shouldn’t be forced upon kids, it’s a divider.

Dude you are literally a walking talking Q billboard.
The Dems are sending bad people to take your neighborhoods? My God. There is little conversation left at all with you because you are brainwashed. Im not even trying to be a dick but you regurgitate alot of nonsense. Think about what you are saying or getting at? The Dems are paying the DA’s to send hardened criminals into your rural paradise and it is your job to take America back. LOL. Putins troll farms must be financing you at this point.

No, everything I said was right and based in fact….you might even just say Chico is based.

We see the crime and murder rates…we see the previous policy strategies and so called reforms.

And we know who is responsible…the dots are easy to connect.

Did you miss this part? - bolded below.

....New York Times , Washington Post, MSNBC and elsewhere have begun spinning a new mythology that presents critical race theory as a benign academic concept, casts its detractors as right-wing extremists driven by racial resentment, and portrays legislation against critical race theory as an attempt to ban teaching about the history of slavery and racism. All three charges are false........."

No one is proposing history being ignored or banned (Heck other than all history being ignored which seems to be the default in K-12 the last 30 years which laid the ground work that enabled CRT proponents to push their execrable revision).

So New York Times versus Wall Street Journal - One has paper has maintained a good reputation one hasn't - who you going to believe at this point?

A big problem imo is that people take opinion pieces and editorial people like Tucker Carlson or Don Lemon as news and facts instead of one persons opinion.

I cant view this NY Times or the WSJ opinion piece as its behind a pay wall but its clearly marked OPINION which should be read with a grain of salt

Christopher Rufo, the writer of the WSJ opinion piece is a right wing activist who worked for Heritage Foundation, does the Carlson/Ingraham talking circuit etc ... seems to be trying to anchor himself into the money making right wing echo chamber talking circuit and has targeted critical race theory as his drum to beat.

Christopher Rufo opinion piece does not equal WSJ credibility or integrity

Even opinion pages are subject to a reputational standing. Do the papers editorial writers or guests have a history of playing fast and loose with facts, or omissions of facts, do they they do it a lot or a little? etc. The New York Times reputation, not only in their news reporting but their editorial opinion pieces, has taken quite a hit over the last 5-10 years, while the WSJ has maintained a good reputation. Rufo is a regular WSJ contributor subject to their requirements. Does it matter that he is a conservative when he is required to adhere to WSJ standards?

I didn't realize the WSJ article was by Rufo. That cracks me up. He's the one that essentially lit the fire under this CRT BS.

This is straight from his Twitter page, yikes, cringe AF

@realchrisrufo
We have successfully frozen their brand—"critical race theory"—into the public conversation and are steadily driving up negative perceptions. We will eventually turn it toxic, as we put all of the various cultural insanities under that brand category.

The goal is to have the public read something crazy in the newspaper and immediately think "critical race theory." We have decodified the term and will recodify it to annex the entire range of cultural constructions that are unpopular with Americans.

Keep the masses angry and divided. The GOP playbook. "Lock her up", "Build the wall", "Drain the swamp", "Repeal and replace", and now it's CRT.

Isnt the WSJ owned by Robert Murdoch?

regular news is slanted enough ... im good with categorizing "opinion pieces" as opinion pieces and not treating them like a neutral news source.

Yup a scholar who has studied it, exposing the ugliness and dishonest rhetoric like school administrators saying “white babies are born racist”

He’s accepted all invitations to talk about the issue….and does so like a normal human being while getting yelled out by clowns such as joy Reid.

He’s not a political operative.

If you want to understand the issue -many do not - i suggest reading what he has to say and what he has actually found. You then can understand why school officials will lie about what they are trying to do.

lol what a joke

The GOP is clearly setting this up as a rallying cry for 2022. I mean it's so obvious.

Oh and he wants your money too of course

@realchrisrufo
P.S. I am fighting against critical race theory through investigative reporting, policy advocacy, and legal warfare. If you want to support this work, you can make a $5 or $10 monthly contribution here:

All ive heard and read are republican governors doing pres conferences about how they are going to ban and forbid CRT to be taught in public schools ... and this gets repeated in the right wing echo chamber ...

funny thing is ... does any public school have a CRT course? It seems like its a theology, a thought to be discussed in some college Sociology class.

Listening to republicans and right wing echo chamber .. Id swear my 9 year is being told "white people bad" at her public school. Now Im sure we can find some granola too woke private charter school doing some dumb over the top racial sensitivity exercise ...

but I highly doubt Florida and Texas public schools are forcing 13 year olds to take "Critical Race Theory" before math and after social studies.

its just weird.
