You know what he's going to do 95% of the time - his stated goal since Obama took office is to oppose everything Dems do. Doesn't matter if they would help his constituents - his goal is to make citizens believe Dems are bad. And he's been very successful in that effort. Shit on me all you want but at this point there's nothing to do against McConnell but root for father time. He's been leading the Republicans for over a decade and we still don't have a solid answer for his strategy. punch it in 06-25-2021, 08:48 AM Probably because he's consistently terrible. He's been leading the Republicans for over a decade and we still don't have a solid answer for his strategy. Yeah. His only concern is staying in office, at least we know he cried a bit when he no longer was majority leader. nonniey 06-25-2021, 11:49 AM How is Mitch escaping the wrath that Nancy is getting here? Probably because he wasn't (officially at least) part of this compromise. The issue here is Pelosi basically stating she wants the whole loaf or nothing (an approach that has been common to both parties since 2009). This is the first compromise bill of major legislation that has been agreed too in the Senate since the Bush administration and it looks like she is going to sink it. nonniey 06-25-2021, 01:51 PM Well this deal seems to be quickly falling apart and the blame for that can squarely be laid on both the President and the Speakers comments about tying it to another bill that adds everything they wanted back into a reconciliation bill. Graham has now withdrawn from the agreement (others will follow) and Manchin stated he will not support the reconciliation bill. Looks like in the whole loaf or nothing approach, nothing wins again (as usual). punch it in 06-25-2021, 04:20 PM Probably because he wasn't (officially at least) part of this compromise. So in other words it has happened about a million times in recent history but when Nancy Pelosi (every Republicans least favorite person after she told Trump to go scratch) happens to be the one standing in the way it is worse? I mean come on Nonniey Mitch McConnell is the poster child for” No way no how not even reading what’s on my desk “ if it comes from across the aisle. Lol. Nancy catches alot of ire ever since she stood up to the leader of the Republican party, and i never hear anything from the right about Mitch. punch it in 06-25-2021, 04:25 PM Well this deal seems to be quickly falling apart and the blame for that can squarely be laid on both the President and the Speakers comments about tying it to another bill that adds everything they wanted back into a reconciliation bill. Graham has now withdrawn from the agreement (others will follow) and Manchin stated he will not support the reconciliation bill. Looks like in the whole loaf or nothing approach, nothing wins again (as usual). Speaking of as usual, after Mitch McConnell, and Trump (just in a shorter window than Mitch) have literally ignored every bill that has come from a Democrat for years - not even tried to negotiate- just literally ignored them, and the right has been absolutely silent about it - we are now going to blame the left for standing in the way of progress? Ok. That’s rich. punch it in 06-25-2021, 04:29 PM And before SD accuses me of only saying bad things about republicans and not democrats - im not. I just find it hilarious how the right reacts when the left pulls a page from their playbook. Its awful isn’t it? The GOP is the problem with our political system right now folks, but please don’t let me stand in the way of blaming Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden. Lol. Carry on… nonniey 06-25-2021, 04:48 PM So in other words it has happened about a million times in recent history but when Nancy Pelosi (every Republicans least favorite person after she told Trump to go scratch) happens to be the one standing in the way it is worse? This isn't one party stopping the other party's partisan proposals, this is the President and Pelosi screwing up a compromise bill put together by both parties. I can't think of one instance on major legislation since 2008 where an agreement has been reached within Congress between the two parties. So you are comparing (pine?)apples to oranges on this. mooby 06-25-2021, 07:24 PM This isn't one party stopping the other party's partisan proposals, this is the President and Pelosi screwing up a compromise bill put together by both parties. I can't think of one instance on major legislation since 2008 where an agreement has been reached within Congress between the two parties. So you are comparing (pine?)apples to oranges on this. Nah, you right. This is the first time in a while a bill that was compromised on by both sides of the aisle was held up due to party leadership on one side going hard-line on it. When Mitch is in power, he just says straight up "we're not even going to look at this. FOH bitch ass dems." But somehow what we're doing is worse. I guess we just need to refuse to even consider any conservative ideas. |
