He might play with a chip on his shoulder too. Look out. He's fearless, as opposed to reckless with the football like Haskins.

It's going to be a fun year.

Though the switch was bound to happen at some point, not many expected it to take place with the team coming off back-to-back blowout wins and riding an unexpected 3-3 record into the bye week. Perhaps no one was more caught off guard by the news than Fitzpatrick himself.

"I was shocked by it. It definitely caught me off guard,” Fitzpatrick said Wednesday. “It was a hard thing for me to hear yesterday, just kind of digesting the news. My heart just hurt all day. It was heartbreaking for me."

"This profession is interesting in that the guy that fired me -- I basically got fired yesterday and then my day of work today consisted of me in Zoom meetings listening to the guy that fired me, and then [was] locked in a spaced-out room with my replacement for four hours today. So there aren't a whole lot of jobs that are like that," Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick is a grown ass man, you think these 21 year old college qb's who have never had a working job in their life and are introduced to wealth and fame in the span of 6 months don't need mentoring? LMAO.

C'mon.. This whole mentoring stuff is a bunch of bullshit. Fitz wants to play. Not change diapers. I remember Brett Favre saying it wasn't his job to mentor anyone and that always stuck w/ me. Rodgers turned out ok. Is Rodgers sitting around mentoring Jordan Love? No. Yes you can learn from a vet by watching but that is as far as it should go. Heinike and Allen don't need anyone to hold their hands. If a QB needs his hand held and needs to be coddled by a vet then you got the wrong guy.

He can still be a teacher to the young guys, football is like any other job.. You can learn from guys without even asking them Q's

One thing's for sure this is going to be a fun ass season. Fitz is going to push the ball down the field and let his guys make plays. No dink and dunk BS. Now let's get another WR and TE and we're ready to cook.

Honestly, look at Heinicke's playing style. It really does look a lot like Fitzpatrick's. This could be part of the plan or at least a big benefit to the new guy.

Sign Curtis Samuel, then draft Jaylen Waddle. BOMBS AWAY!

Agree. IMO bringing in Fitz could open the door for top free agent WRs and TEs to want to come here because the ball will be pushed downfield and they can rack up some big numbers. No top WRs or TEs wanted to come here with the offense WFT ran last year.

I like it for the same reasons many have stated. IF we pick up a starter quality rookie he's a 1 year rental that can bridge the gap and if we don't then we're in a good place to go after a rookie next year. He instantly gives us more hop of signing quality FA talent too. I now agree with going after Samuel and Everett then drafting for OL. Takes the pressure off the D if we can do that.

I keep looking at him and thinking the beard makes him look 50+ but he's only 38 :)

Fitz's legs are also underrated.. He can still move

Love the move! Gives us some flexibility in the draft and FA. Saves us from drafting a QB at 19. Hopefully we’ll add a WR (Samuel), or TE (Henry)

Love the move too.

Makes way more sense than forcing a long term solution when there aren't a lot of options, and gives us a chance to:

a) be competitive this year

b) sign some solid WRs
