AnonEmouse 02-04-2021, 08:45 AM THERE IS NO FRANCHISE QB AVAILABLE FOR TRADE.
YOU WANT ONE, YOU HAVE TO DRAFT HIM.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP BEING SCAREDY CATS ABOUT DRAFTING A QB AND EMBRACE THE LONG ROAD TO GETTING A TRUE FRANCHISE QB.
Reading this board, its like Vinny Cerrato has been cloned.
It's OK to have an opinion and to share it, nobody is going to deride you for that (unless its a REALLY stupid opinion). But making out like you are the only one with a valid opinion, deriding everyone else in here like they are idiots and arguably worse SHOUTING your opinion, is only going to alienate you with everyone, whether they agree with your points or not.
I suggest you need to apply critical thinking to your own posts before posting them; put yourself in the shoes of a neutral and ask yourself how you are coming across. Are you trying to get your opinion heard as part of a group or are you trying to dominate the group and have your opinion agreed as the only truth? It isn't by the way.

You would have to move up for sure, I'd say into the top 7

Watson will be traded eventually
Chief X_Phackter 02-04-2021, 09:53 AM We almost certainly would have upped our bid, but Stafford wanted to go to Rams. We were perfectly willing to mortgage the future, but the Rams outbid us. Thus the restraint everyone sees was non-extant. Not that I think RR is a complete dunce like Snyder or Cerrato.
What makes you say that? Do you have some inside information that no one else has seen? RR didn't overpay for A Cooper last offseason. They put in a fair offer, and when Dallas offered $37M more in guaranteed, they said - bubbye.
I watched the Marty, Martin, Rivera press conference, and I'm pretty sure I heard, over and over again, that they weren't willing to mortgage the future for any position, even the most important one - QB. They want to find a balance between finding that guy, aggressively pursuing him, but also being to protect him, give him weapons, and build the team around him.
It can be done... There's never just one way to skin a cat.

A side note on the front office pursuing trades. An NFC opponent (the Rams) just paid a ton in draft capital to get Stafford. One reason that happened is because other teams like the WFT put in offers that the Rams had to beat. I would have liked to have Stafford, but I also like that our FO seems to know how to put a reasonable bid together that either wins or forces a team to go to an over the top bid (ie Cooper and Stafford). Whether they intend to or not, it gives an air of confidence to their trades that they won't get bullied past their "ok" spot, and that they seem to have fall back positions that may not be as terrific as the hot market, but cover the bases at least.
Could be rose colored glasses, but I say getting in the mud and making everyone put honest bids in is an unheralded part of the process.
Monkeydad 02-04-2021, 11:21 AM Yea...I'd say its nice to have a team that doesn't reach and pay way over what they should...
I don't go into the strip club and throw all my money at the first girl that shows me attention. I wait for the second one.
Good to see you're still hanging around the forum, Dwayne.
Keep in touch.
punch it in 02-04-2021, 11:43 AM No team is going to let a true franchise QB go. EVER. Why is this so hard for everyone to understand? In the entire salary cap era, almost a quarter century, the only franchise QB to hit free agency anywhere near his prime was Brees, and he was a huge injury risk at the time.
If your GM can't find a franchise QB in draft, find a new GM.
DL older fallacious argument. We have holes everywhere else.
There's only one way you get a long-term franchise QB: you draft him.
The only QBs available for trade (spare the Watson BS he isn't going anywhere and isn't worth what he would cost if he was) are NOT franchise QBs. If they were, they would NOT be available for trade, period, EVER.
If it takes 3 years it takes 3 years, can all the Homers please stop with the DL makes us contenders fallacy. I love our DL, we are at least 6 stud players from being a contender, so mortgaging future to get a non-franchise QB actually screws us completely long term.

Tell the Bucs that. I could come up with numerous examples of teams that have acquired quarterbacks through trades or free agency and gone on to do great things. You post utter nonsense and act like we all have something to learn from you. Go start a podcast. Your mom and dad can listen and tell you how smart you are. It will be a win for everyone. Especially us.
