problem is Casserio isn't trading him so not sure why watson is being discussed. watson will put his bruised ego aside and play for houston or play for no one.

Thank you. Exactly. No NFL owner is paying a player that huge a deal and having him force a trade in the first 6 months of that deal, sets a horrible precedent. You let Watson get away with that, EVERY player will be sniveling and rebelling. Bottom line, Watson wanted out he shouldn't have signed the new deal. He did, so he's in Houston. These players are like dumb 8 year olds.

Could mean - still looking for your QB in 4 years too.

That will be true for any trades for older vets as well.
If you don't have faith your GM can find a franchise QB, find a new GM.

Fuck no!! Sweat should be untouchable.

Sweat flourished with Young on the other side. Trading Sweat would likely have us keeping Kerrigan and draft another DE next year

We have a new GM, unfortunately our old VP of player personnel was not given the chance.

Sweat started playing better during the last few games of his rookie season and yes, Young helps.I would consider him and Young untouchable, they are like Manley and Mann.

I hear you, and all the others. For me the bottomline is I trust Rivera and JDR to build and keep a top 5 D, if they think any player is a key/untouchable piece they won't trade that player. This isn't Gruden/Manusky/BA. And if giving Turner a qb that is above average takes some D pieces, I trust our D staff 100% to replace them in draft and FA.

It's about building a dominant Team, not simply a dominant DLine

Alright lets look at it results wise 2016 was the last year Jeff Fisher was there and the year they drafted Jared Goff, lets ignore that year because it was Jeff Fisher

2017- No first round pick 11-5 loses in divsional round (Division Champs)
2018- No first round pick loses Super Bowl (Division Champs)
2019- 9-7 missed the playoffs after losing to the 49ers in week 16 (first non playoff season under McVay
2020- Lost in divisional round to the Packers
2021- In position to win the division again

In the last 4 seasons they've made the playoffs 3 years and made a SB, and havent had a losing season since 2016 when they last had a first round pick. If you're telling me we are in the thick of things for the next 5 years off trading first round picks and will have a SB performance I dont think anyone here would say no to that.

We on the other hand havent won a playoff game since 2005 when I was a junior in high school, and are tot he point where we think journeyman Taylor Heinecke is the guy based off 5 quarters of play.

What I dont understand is, if people think Heinecke is the guy on one hand how can you not think someone like Stafford or Watson would put us in contender category

I would say no to that because they haven't won a SB. Assuming that we are the Rams is a HUGE mistake.

We have an elite DL, and a couple other good players. That isn't a contender no matter who you plug in at QB. We beat one winning team and only made the playoffs because we are in the worst division in football and Dallas lost their franchise QB for the year who didn't play in either game against them. What is so hard to understand here? Stafford or Watson does NOT put us in contender category, not by a longshot. NOT EVEN CLOSE. This is the problem with this franchise, perpetually mortgaging the future, in the deluded belief we are contender when we are not even close. We lost to EVERY winning team we played this year except Steelers. EVERY ONE.

The Rams have talent all over the roster and are truly just a QB away from being a contender. We are NOT anywhere close to being a contender. With a real QB instead of Goff, they could have beat the Pack or it would have been close.

Heinecke earned the right to come in as 3rd QB and get a fair shot to compete to start. You make it out black and white, we must either be willing to mortgage the future absurdly, or think Heinecke is Bart Starr. There is a middle ground. WE ARE NOT CLOSE TO BEING A CONTENDER. WE ARE 1-2 SOLID DRAFTS AWAY FROM BEING ANYWHERE IN THE BALLPARK, PLEASE PUT THE KOOLAID DOWN. SNEAKING INTO PLAYOFFS AT 7-9 AND GETTING DESTROYED IN 1ST ROUND DOESN'T EQUAL CONTENDER, AND WE HAD SOLID PLAY AT QB IN THAT GAME. WE LOST BECAUSE DIDN'T HAVE A GOOD MLB, COULDN'T COVER, DIDN'T HAVE OTHER VIABLE WR THREATS, OL COULDN'T BLOCK ELITE RUSHERS, ETC. JOE MONTANA IN HIS PRIME COULDN'T HAVE ENABLED US TO BEAT THE BUCS.

The reason we are not a contender with a shiny new QB is that we lack talent all over roster except at DL. No MLB. No shutdown corner. No FS. NOTHING at WR besides McL. No franchise LT. We have to beat teams with all those pieces and HOF QBs to be a "contender." We need 3-6 more stud players to even be in the conversation as contender, plus much better depth. This is RUDIMENTARY football knowledge. If you think we are close to being a contender, you are just flat out wrong. You want to mortgage the very picks we need to have any hope of being a contender. At a minimum, we will not be a contender until we get at franchise LT, a shutdown CB, a stud MLB, a competent FS, a #2 WR, better depth at numerous positions, and of course a QB.

We need 1-2 more years of draft and develop to have any hope of being a contender. That includes drafting and developing a QB.

The belief that we are only a QB away from contending is flat out wrong. WRONG.

McVay is a brilliant coach, MUCH better than RR. Still insane we hired Jay Gruden and let McVay walk. Rams have pissed away tons of picks and will not be competitive once their window closes. We could debate the virtue of going all in they way they have, if they win a SB to them it was worth it. However, what would be madness is Homers thinking we are as talented as Rams, are just a QB away from contending like them, and then going all in mortgaging future based on belief we are a contender when we are not. You then have a team that can't contend now or in the future. Which is of course what the Redskins have done ENDLESSLY for decades+ now.

Are you sure you aren't Vinny Cerrato's cousin? Or Bruce Allen's son?

I’m on the fence on Rivera after the Kyle Smith fiasco, didn’t even give him a chance.

Would you trade #19 for Goff? I would

I wouldn't trade the clap for Goff.
He is AWFUL.
AWFUL.

Every team is "1 -2 solid drafts" away, even the best teams have holes and weaknesses. Our coaching staff's strength is the Defense. Thinking that a team needs two more drafts will get any FO fired.
