He joined the team in December. Of course it was a limited playbook.

Probably not as limited as it would've been for someone who just showed up off the street. He played in this offense before.

Can the 1st 18 teams just kindly pass on Trey Lance? Thanks in advance.

Not usually a fan of trading up, but I wouldn't be against it this year. Last time it worked pretty well getting Sweat. We need to get our QB.

Not sure I can agree. From what I heard the playbook was simplified so much for Heinicke in the playoff game that it wouldn't be sustainable for 16 games. That performance was a one game stop gap. We will get a chance to see what he can do with a full playbook this year, see if he actually has NFL skills.

Where did you here that? The very reason they brought in Heinicke was that he knew the playbook very well. They had to simplify for Haskins, who just wouldn't learn it, but Heinicke? Don't know where you got that, but it doesn't ring true.

He played in this offense before.Yes but with a completely different cast of characters and limited practice time. Who knows. Maybe that was the best he has got but 1 week of starter reps he did damn good against a solid defense.

Allen would start over TH I'd almost guarantee it.

Allen didn't play nearly as well as TH did, albeit in a limited time frame. But Allen has been healthier in his career, so you're probably right. But from a play/leadership I'd take TH any day over Allen.

If there was a definition of a JAG QB then Kyle Allen is that. He is the ultimate back up QB and a very good one. But I doubt he's a 16 game starter.

It was very clear that after watching Heinike he obviously was better than anyone we saw under center last year. But can he stay healthy? Can he continue that level and maybe get better? Can he play at a high level w/ expectations? Just a lot of questions surrounding him. He needs to stay in the weight room this entire off season.

But for him to play as well as he did against the SB champs was just very impressive. How many drops did he have that game? He was accurate, threw w/ anticipation, he was mobile, we just haven't seen that level of play since Kirk. We finally saw that Cam Sims is pretty good once he got a QB in there that can get him the ball.

For me it was Stafford or bust. Since we could not land him then it's 100% draft and bring back Allen. You can't have 3 guys competing so to me it's Heinike and make a decision on the rookie or Allen.

TH played better in that one game that we have ever seen from Kirk. Probably the best QB play in that one game for the last 30 or so years from a Skins QB.

I think recency bias is getting the best of you. Kirk had some pretty big time games here

These games are just from 2015:

The "you like that game" for starters, he was 33/40 for 317 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT

Against the Saints he was 20/25 for 324 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT

And in back to back games he went 22/28 for 319 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT against the Bills followed by 31/46 for 365, 4 TD, 0 INT against Philly.

If you look at his game logs (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CousKi00/gamelog/) there are definitely more I could point out

Kirk was the best QB we have had since Joe T.

Stop with the nonsense that he sucked, the GB game was another example. He also just had a hell of a season in MIN without Diggs.. Taylor played great but it was 1 game in a situation where he could take risks because nobody knew who he was. He will most likely not beat out Mariota / Teddy B / Cam (don't kill me Matty) or whoever we draft.

i doubt i could dig up the article, but it came out a few days after the TB game, maybe a week later. The article went over everything that TH did in that game and gave a compelling argument that Kirk didn't and couldn't do some of the things that TH did in that game. Kirk would never have scored that running TD. Kirk under pressure his numbers drop BAD, TH's in that game were better, etc. etc. etc. . . .it was a long thought out article and it made sense. Kirk was never good at throwing his receivers open. He never hit back shoulder throws, and never the back corner of the endzone throws. TH did all of those in that one game. Has Kirk had a few good games, yes, but not quite on that level.
