AS won games in both stints as our qb with teams that collectively the games where he did not play. I don't know what AS has left in him, but i don't see the incessant need by some to belittle the success we had with him as qb. The leg injury sucked for him and us, but he had all the skills to lead a team and win games. I hope he finds peace after football because it clearly is one of his anchors that he can't let go.

Alex Smith was broken last year. It got to the point where he couldn't move two feet in the pocket without falling down. I don't know that anyone is incessantly belittling the success WFT had in his starts. I think people are just pointing out that the team won in spite of his presence on the field. Those wins were championed by the defense, coupled with just playing bad teams with mostly backup QBs. I think a healthy Kyle Allen or Heinicke could have had this team on the same run or better.
Love Alex Smith, but he was not the same Alex Smith, and after that injury it's a little self-centered for him to think this new coaching staff owed him the opportunity to see if he could play football again.
