CRedskinsRule 02-21-2021, 07:14 PM And they had to do the facility once Redskins was deemed unwelcome. Logo is so generic the costs for the change are minimal given the scope of the NFL.

rocnrik 02-21-2021, 09:12 PM Okay .. well we are currently the ONLY major sports team ( other than soccer) that does not have a nickname ... I’m so tired of Eagles,Seahawks, falcons, bears, rams, dolphins, jags, broncos, cardinals, lions, panthers, bengals..that is what I’m referring to as generic .. I actually like Buffalo Bills , Packers, Patriots, Saints, Texans, 49ers, Steelers, football team may be generic as hell but nobody else has a name like it .. The Capitals have the perfect name for a DC team , Nationals is good .. Wizards for me is horrible.. but so was bullets, .. what sucks is a lot of the USFL , arena football and other minor league teams have had great names that nobody wants to re-use .. factor that in with the PC crowd and it’s gonna be tough to Come up with a name ..

I'm with ya. There's one other benefit to sticking with Football Team ...
I also truly enjoy, watching the jackasses in sports media constantly stumble around with our team, and inadvertently slip and say Redskins. And you know it kills them, because they want to be the most PC people in the world.
If we stick with Football Team, the slips to Redskins will continue.
If we transition to something else --- whatever that will be --- the jackassery in sports media won't slip as much, if at all.
SkinzWin 02-21-2021, 11:26 PM If they are going to name it something like that , you would see the team slowly transitioning to it. The fact that they have branded the WFT logo now on all merchandise and at the facility itself seems like they are going to be keeping that logo for good.
Or maybe they just did that so people will buy their merch for a year or two and then turn around and spend a boat load more money to buy all the new team named gear when the final new name comes out. All about that 💵. Danny Boy may be an asshole as a human being, but he didn’t get to be a billionaire by being stupid. He knows what he’s doing.
skinsfan69 02-21-2021, 11:27 PM Isn't this a QB thread???? Isn't there a thread for the name change?

DeShaun Watson never going to waive his no trade clause to come to a team called “team”. There. I fixed it for you.
Scalper 02-22-2021, 01:16 AM Well actually if you read the timeline (https://www.washingtonjourney.com/timeline/) they put on the journey website, which is in line with the process (https://t.co/iBE5xkaD1V?amp=1) Jason Wright revealed during the season, I really don't think there's that big of a chance it stays WFT.
They highlighted so many times the fact they gonna value fan input and they wanted to pick a name that last at least a century, I have a hard time going "meeeh we don't feel like rebranding after all...".
Just read the last part of the timeline:
"Finally, we put our game plan into action—by unveiling and launching our new identity for the fans, the players, and the future. This will kick off the next century of Washington Football."
I think THE DAN cackles with glee at not changing the name and leaving it in limbo, thumbing his nose at all the SJWs. I think Goodell and NFL have told him he has to pick a name eventually. I think complicating the matter is the fact that squatters have sat on many of the preferred names, the intellectual rights, and want exorbitant sums for them. Oh the irony of turds bigger than THE DAN holding him hostage. I do not think painting and relabeling costs or any of that factor in, they are a pittance. Warriors is the easy choice, but squatters own it, for example. A final note is that the name must be 100% PC-friendly, sad what this country is becoming, and even warriors might not be 100% PC-friendly. There is also a PR aspect, how it factors in to the investigations of misconduct on every front imaginable by THE DAN.

We are the only major sports team in the U.S. without a name. In other countries it is perfectly normal. For example, where I grew up, I was a fan of the 1. FC Kaiserslautern (Meaning First Football Club Kaiserslautern). Which is why I would be okay with staying WFT. Better than Warriors. Worse than Wolves. So... there would be better options, but also a ton of worse.
Scalper 02-22-2021, 01:18 AM I think the article is recommending that if they can't sign a top-tier FA, or trade up for one of the top rookies, then they should save their resources and sign a low-priced free agent quarterback, rather than trade for Darnell, Mariota, etc.
I don't know if that is what the article is saying, but bringing in a FA quarterback is sensible. Better to overpay a few millions for a stopgap then overpay in draft picks for retreads. Nothing even approaching a franchise QB is available in FA, and those that are even solid are well past prime.
