One interesting tidbit that has no effect on the Redskins or the Dolphins but does on Fisher is that $6m Miami paid him for this year will not be subject to State Taxes.

CRedskinsRule 04-27-2021, 05:18 PM Big win if he's only costing us $3 million. Spotrac's updated page shows it costing us $3M this year, 10M next year. With the restructure, Miami splits the dead cap between this year and next $5/$3. What I like also is that if Flowers agreed to the restructure, he likely signed off on coming back to Washington. They likely wouldn't outright cut him and take the whole hit at once. Chief X_Phackter 04-27-2021, 05:55 PM The #Dolphins and Washington Football Team are in agreement on a trade to send guard Ereck Flowers to WFT in a deal involving a swap of late-round picks, sources say. The deal is being finalized. Frees up some money for Miami, while giving Washington an OL to compete to start. There goes the Guard pick in RD1 Another solid move. I don't think it changes the draft plan though. He comes cheaper than his first stint in 2019, and will compete for a starting spot. The O-line is deeper now. nonniey 04-27-2021, 07:04 PM As for no longer drafting guard at 19 only one I've seen mentioned before was Tucker and he is still an option as he plays tackle very well as well. FrenchSkin 04-27-2021, 07:46 PM That's a big win for us, wise cap wise and gives us a really solid LG. He played well for us, good move from a culture standpoint too IMO : he has to pumped to comeback play for the team that, as was said here, saved his career ! punch it in 04-27-2021, 07:58 PM Love the move for Flowers. He was good here. Will be again. So he will replace Schweitzer on the left side? Still need a LT. Than we have a damn good OL. punch it in 04-27-2021, 08:00 PM Could be missing something but doesn't this mean we will probably not sign an OL at 19? We need a LT which could be the 19th pick. Flowers is LG. Schneed10 04-27-2021, 08:42 PM $3M cap hit this year, nothing guaranteed to him next year, so next year if you want to cut him, no dead cap hit. Outstanding move. I don’t think it changes anything for Scherff. I think he’ll be gone after this season anyway. And I don’t see him getting traded before that, I think he subscribes to the Kirk Cousins theory of make your way to free agency to find out your worth, I don’t think he’ll agree to a long term deal with an acquiring team because he wants to hit the open market. As for G, this is a depth play that indicates that they’re not comfortable with the recovery of Charles, or not comfortable with Schweitzer as a starter, or envision Charles competing at T, or a combination of these. I still think they will look to draft a LT in this draft. Either way, good depth pickup. Can’t have too many capable offensive linemen. Scalper 04-28-2021, 02:34 AM While I'd love for BS to stick around long term, it really looks like we're being played by the same tactic Kirk Cousins used. We're already paying too much for a Guard on the tag, and since he hasn't budged and signed long term, it appears he's bolting after this season. So instead of overpaying for a Guard this year that we're losing anyways, I fully support getting something in return for him right now. Except that everyone knows they can get him next year without giving up picks. There are very few teams going oh my God, if we just had that stud RG we would totally be SB contenders, we'd better trade the farm because that RG will put us over the top, for a player making $18M fully guaranteed with a 1 in 3 change of being healthy. vallin21 04-28-2021, 06:18 AM Love the Flowers trade. Shouldn’t change our draft strategy. A top prospect will slide, and be there for us at 19 (Darrisaw, Vera-Tucker, Parsons, D. Smith, JOK). Out of those 5, I’d take 1. Parsons 2. D. Smith 3. Darrisaw 4. Vera Tucker 5. JOK I’m not a fan of JOK, I think we need a true LB, not a hybrid, which ironically is the problem right now with Collins and Rivera. |
