I wonder if the decision/timeline to potentially trade for a Veteran QB (Stafford, Watson, etc.) is tied to Alex Smith's decision regarding whether he will continue playing or retire.

From what has been reported, Watson wants to go to Miami so I think that ship has sailed for us... Stafford or Ryan for me Chief X_Phackter 01-13-2021, 01:53 PM From what has been reported, Watson wants to go to Miami so I think that ship has sailed for us... Stafford or Ryan for me Yeah, I'm not a big fan of trading for any of them really, I was just wondering what the timeline might look like, with regard to Alex's decision. They traded for Alex in January 2018, so trades involving these Vets could happen at any time. skinsfaninok 01-13-2021, 01:54 PM Yeah, I'm not a big fan of trading for any of them really, I was just wondering what the timeline might look like, with regard to Alex's decision. Tough call Chief X_Phackter 01-13-2021, 01:55 PM If all it takes is the 19th pick, then I'm probably in on that all day. I just think it will take a lot more, and in that case I'm not interested. GridIron26 01-13-2021, 01:59 PM Yeah I do think Detroit would listen if we offered #19 but do u want to give up a 1 for Stafford? Tough call No thanks. I would consider giving up a 2nd round pick though. MTK 01-13-2021, 02:25 PM #19 for Stafford? I'd do it. SunnySide 01-13-2021, 02:30 PM Stafford is set to count as a 33M cap hit in 21 and 26M in 22. That has to be considered as a devalue for his trade value imo. Lions are right up against the cap for 21. Im not sure how many teams are in a position to (1) have cap space to make a trade work; and (2) feel they are 1 expensive QB away from competing. The Colts are certainly in that discussion same as us. Good team all around, ready to win now .. just no QB. Holy crap - colts have 68.8M in cap space next year vs our 37.6 (assumes a 175M cap but I think it will be in the mid 180s .. 175 would cripple some teams) SkinzWin 01-14-2021, 08:25 AM Sirius XM NFL Channel 88 just reported that the WFT is expected to hire Martin Mathew, VP of player personnel of the San Franscisco 49ers as their next GM. Giantone 01-14-2021, 08:53 AM Would Washington be interested in Wentz? |
