Chief X_Phackter 06-10-2021, 01:26 AM I love when people say they want “more facts” before they get the shot. That seems to be a common mantra, and Sweat voiced that opinion as well. Like the results from hundreds of millions of shots in arms aren’t enough data. The benefits are clear and evident, as are the downsides of not getting the shot. For our team, the NFL as a whole, our communities and the world at large.
NOBODY, not one Doctor on the planet, knows what the long term side effects could be with these COVID vaccines approved under emergency use authorization.
If people want more facts before they put it in their body, that's an individual decision - not a mantra; and that decision should be respected just as much as someone else's decision to be the first in line.
FrenchSkin 06-10-2021, 02:51 AM These are young athletes, I don't judge them on their personal/political/societal views. Nor do I expect them to have the smartest take on every subject. What I want them to be smart about is football, the rest is none of my business.
Plus, the NFL managed to have a full season in the pic of the pandemic, with no vaccine available. If they keep adequate protocoles, things will only get better from now, not worse.

Could not agree more. None of these are even approved by the FDA either. All emergency use.
If you have the shot, you're not better than anyone that doesn't. And if you don't have the shot, you're not better than anyone that does.
Our country is based on the freedom to make the choice of what we think is best for us or our family. That's it. It starts with individual freedom.
If you want the shot get it, if you don't want it, don't get it.
DYoungJelly 06-10-2021, 08:23 AM Doesn't trust the science is what it looks like.
I disagree with his stance here, especially in light of less than half the team getting the vaccine.
They did a great job of staying off the covid list last year, it would be a shame if it bit us in the ass this year because half the team doesn't give a shit.
Thanks for the link.
I don't think there is enough there to assume he isn't trusting the science. He said he wanted more facts.
He has a pre-existing heart condition. Maybe he is concerned with how it would affect him.
I'm sure everyone has the same stories, but I've had folks in my family whose Dr has advised waiting because of pre-existing medical conditions.

I would say the doctors and scientists have a pretty good idea about whether or not there could be long term side effects from the vaccine. They know exactly what the vaccine consists of and surely can make an educated summation of whether or not it could be dangerous. Unless it is death, it is a better alternative to the virus. Look at the long term side effects, let alone the deaths, that the virus has on people. Months and months later some still have major lung issues, etc.
I mean what more facts do you need other than the virus has killed millions of people??? That is fact enough for me. All the garbage chemicals in different crap foods, and illicit drugs and alcohol people consume but the want more information on a medicine? Ok.
And honestly being fully vaccinated I dont care if you get it or not. Im good. Swim at your own risk. I cant get it. I cant pass it on. From a football standpoint it bothers me because i would hate to see Sweat and others wind up getting it or being exposed and missing time. But hey to each their own. Im not chastising anyone. I fully disagree though.
Thanks for the link.

Pretty sure it's people with pre-existing medical conditions who need it the most.

Unless you don’t know what side effects you may have and it could make your condition worse…..
punch it in 06-10-2021, 09:49 AM Sweat said he isn’t going to deal with the virus unless he gets the virus. Lol. Pretty sure vaccines don’t work like that but hey what do i know?
