WFT's Off-Season Thread

Couple other observations:

Second-year OL Saahdiq Charles, who Rivera described as having a very good offseason, was also held out as a maintenance day, per the WFT head coach.

This dude could be a stud and we got zero from him last year. John Keim has said his future is a guard. Charles could be a Chico “quiet baller” selection.

Rookie tight end John Bates had a nice outstretched-hand grab. He appears to be the real deal through rookie camp and OTAs. Tight end Sammis Reyes had another easy/uncontested drop during individuals drills. This is a problem at this point in his development, especially with Bates' emergence as the TE No. 2. The one thing Reyes can hope to bring to the table this year for Washington is his athleticism and potential pass-catching ability. He's had at least one drop every time we've been allowed at practice.

Hype train Reyes should chill, but Bates real deal is great news. If Bates can be the second TE and contribute in that roll this season, watch out

I feel good with L. Thomas at TE #1 so really this is all competition for the #2 spot. I like Bates there much more than I did Sprinkle.

I think Bates is going to be sneaky good. Big upgrade over Sprinkle.

Given RR and JDR's track record with dominant LB play, I won't be shocked if Davis becomes a force at MLB quickly. I think it would shock me more if he didn't establish himself quickly.

RR teams also has a track record of playing rookies.

Merit over status.

Depends how well he calls the defence and gets the others in correct position. That is Bostics strength and why RR and JDR like him at MLB. They are trying Davis out at MLB as at this point it is good experience, it is still likely he will move outside with Bostic coming in at MLB when camp starts to wind down and preparation for the first games is ongoing. Davies has to get aclimated to playing in the NFL before handing over the whole defence to him. I think it is likely we'll see him as 2nd string MLB during the preseason and they will see how he fares.

It's not a requirement that the middle linebacker has to call the defense. I know the Redskins have had safeties call the plays in the past.

He's definitely locked in as TE2. And possibly TE1 after this year if we don't or can't extend Thomas.

Did anybody else hear Scherff's reaction to Cosmi joining a Deadlift session and his speed?

The language he used suggests being genuinely impressed rather than appropriately complimentary.

Me too. I think he'll probably get extended for another 2 years

Thomas, Allen, Settle...would be nice to lock them all up.

At least 60% of the most likely starting O-line will be FAs next year too, so might want to think about trying to do something there as well.

Thomas, Allen, Settle...would be nice to lock them all up.I think Settle will be the hardest to lockup. He knows he can be a starter somewhere and we can't pay every DLine starters money
