I like the guys we have .... but we also had an almost non-existent running game that could never be counted on to be part of a game plan .... on a team juggling QBs that could have really used a complimentary run game to offset the heavy and predictable reliance of having to quick pass to backs as some extension of our run game.

Run game has to improve next year. Handcuffed our play calling when our lack of personnel on offense already made us almost one dimensional.

This team was never a threat to throw the ball down the field. Teams had the luxury of loading up the box to stop the run, and the short passing game. I think the answer is to upgrade the pass catchers and the QB. The running game will improve if the defense has to honor the passing game.

AG Was pretty good this yr in the run game. His game against Dallas was awesome.

Really really hope Charles is ready to roll next year. Draft a LT in the 1st couple rounds and plug him in at LG. Get Lucas and Wes back to swing tackle/guard. They are above average backups. I think we could get a lot better "reasonably easy" on the line next year.

Sign Allen Robinson or Galladay or Godwin and draft a legit TE2 and the passing game improves drastically. Even just adding a more middle tier WR2 like a Curtis Samuel would be a huge help.

I hear that. I felt like we should have seen more stacked boxes than we did. Change the scheme, change the left side of the O line, change qb/receivers, change the coaches. Something (or all things) need to improve w the run game next year. We dont have the QBs/Receivers to be pass heavy offense like we were this past year.

Hard to really judge Scott Turner bc you didnt know how much personnel impacted the way he wanted to call games. Certainly the QB carousel played a large hand. If he got "good" QB play .. it came in quarters or halfs or even a drive or 2 but never anything continued from one game to the next that you could rely on and weekly game plan aorund.

OKfan - any chance you have the PFF for runs against stacked boxes percentage or any info like that? I know I read an article ranking the RBs vs stacked box for 2019.

I'm a little surprised by the Stafford love here. No chance I give up a first for him. I'd offer a 4th, knowing that that probably doesn't get it done.

That's as far as I'd go.

The period between your last game and the start of free agency is brutal. Way easier to have gnashing of the teethe over front office decisions when there are few other team related things to discuss.

He's a great QB on a bad team. He's only 32...we could get a solid 4 more years, or more.

If he were on say, the Packers or Patriots instead of the Lions, he'd be considered one of the top QBs in the league.

4,000 yards every year, a 2:1 career TD:INT ratio...ON THE LIONS.

He's one of 8 QBs in NFL history to throw for 5,000 in a season....again, ON THE LIONS.

He'll finish Top 10 easily in all-time passing yards, could make it up to 5th if he plays 5 more years, currently occupied by Phillip Rivers.

Sources: The Steelers are planning to sign ex-first-round QB Dwayne Haskins today. Haskins is meeting with the coaches now, and if all goes well, a deal will be hammered out.

That's pretty sweet for Dwayne. Good for him, I hope he gets his act together in a new environment.
