Bobby McCain's cap hit was 1.5M. I hadn't seen that number, but for a starting quality safety, that is simply outstanding.

Next closest in NFC East is New York and they’re nearly 60 mil less I wonder where he is getting his numbers from, not saying he is wrong but OTC doesn't agree though OTC is a little all over the place because of rookie signings, still $60m would seem to be a little over the top. If you click on the 2022 tab at OTC (https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space/) you will see that we are actually 5th best in the league with $60 mil in cap space. In terms of the NFC East, I think he may have gotten 2021 mixed with 2022, because in 2022, the Iggles have the next best cap situation at $21 mil; the Giants and Cowpukes seem to be in the bottom 5. Pervis_Griffith 05-26-2021, 07:26 PM -- Insane Clown Possee ... :laughing2 -- Looks like we're positioned nicely to re-sign young talent while also having cap room to perhaps pay for a big free agent QB if we want to. We are definitely being smart, but also keep in mind we have no Fitz on books or the pile of guys we signed to 1-year deals. Or Allen. Or Scherff. Or Leno. Or Thomas. Etc. We shouldn't resign Scherff, but his deal alone would be almost a third of our cap space (on annualized basis). One thing I loved when RR asked about Moses, why cut, he said Moses didn't do anything wrong, was good player, they just wanted to give young guys playing time. SO LONG since we've seen that kind of mentality. You don't pay Kerrigan. You cut Moses. You build primarily through the draft. All the sudden you have lots of good players and cap space. We could have been less aggressive in thinking long term and easily have half the cap space next year. I think next year is a year we bid adios to the last of the holdovers. I think we'll draft S, LB, CB on D, and then OL,RB, etc. Chico23231 05-27-2021, 07:35 AM Bobby McCain's cap hit was 1.5M. I hadn't seen that number, but for a starting quality safety, that is simply outstanding. Yeah no brainer, great contract. Is he a starting FS? I think Reeves could challenge to start. Oline, Safety and WR to an extent will hold the most competition for spots. AnonEmouse 05-27-2021, 11:03 AM I can't help wondering if tagging Scherff was because they planned to drop Moses if all went to plan. Letting them both go and relying on Roullier to be the veteran anchor on the OL would make me uneasy. If they don't sign Scherff to a long term deal this year, it makes even more sense to me (draft a replacement next spring). |
