Just a musing really with Ingram being waived by Baltimore. Given that arguably Gibson and McKissick were the only effective running backs (Barber had a measly 2.7 ypc), would you consider bringing in a bruising vet like Ingram or look at picking up a big pound the rock back in a late round or UFA? Is Ingram too expensive?

For me I don't want a guy that's just moderately effective in short yardage, I want a guy I can put on the field at any time and threaten to get good yardage. Even if we maintain what is effectively RB by committee, I think we need an upgrade on Barber.

I'm not sure what it would take to bring him in, but I wouldn't be interested. Probably would cost more than he's worth. I think he's going on 10 years or more in the league, and he's over 30. I'd rather pick up a younger RB. I'm sure they can upgrade the position either through the draft, or as players become cap casualties.

Barber was EXTREMELY effective in short yardage. He was valuable. I wouldn't draft another RB or bring in an expensive guy to try and replace him. You can bring bring in some UDFA type guys for competition. I actually like our RB group. Run it back with them 1 more year.

Ingram is no better than Barber anymore. I'd prefer to stick with our trio, they all did well in their specific roles. Gibson will only get better too.

I think Bryce Love is still on the team too. :D

Barber had 94 carries for the season .. Id argue at least half of those were short yardage situations that would sckew his yards per carry numbers. He was decent at falling forward, if we keep him or replace him I dont think it will change our season trajectory. Very replaceable piece but he does a decent job.

When we were on the goal line or at 4th and 1 or 2, Peyton got the job done almost every time.

He's only 26. Keep him over a washed-up Ingram. He was down to 4th on Baltimore's depth chart by the end of the year. A healthy scratch most weeks.

Did Barber ever not convert a short yardage situation this year?

Not that I can remember. I don't see a reason to move on from him. He's under contract for another year I think. I like what we have there for RB. Doesn't mean you don't keep looking to improve the position (and all positions), but it's not a pressing matter.

Yeah he did a couple times but he's nothing special

This is an interesting advanced stat website, kinda confusing to navigate and understand at first but once you get the hang of it, really interesting. Lots of ways to modify a search.

Peyton had 4 4th down rushing attempts and converted on all 4.

Had a 56.3% "success" rate for runs in the red zone vs league average of 53.7%

Agreed. If there's a later round back they like I'm all for it, but I like the guys we have.
