Then we're still the Redskins. :httr:
This is a cool take on it: https://riggosrag.com/2021/05/21/the-washington-football-team-should-the-name-stay/
"In my opinion, if THE Washington Football Team remains, so does the history. While the name is bland, it does allow the team and history to remain. Creating a new logo and name is basically creating a new brand.
Yes, the Lombardi trophies remain in Ashburn and the memories of players who dawned the Burgundy and Gold will always be in our heart. But a new name creates a new identity.
I don’t want a new identity. I want to be remembered as the team that had a name so great that it couldn’t be replaced."

+1
0 points for creativity Dan.
I'm fine with whatever name at this point, just pick something and get it over with.

I loved the Redskins, wanted it to stay, but at this point that name has sailed so move on and bring a new pride to the legacy.

Nope. They will always be the Redskins to me. Will never buy anything with the new name and will never call them by their new name.

Agreed.
Every "choice" in the fan new name polls SUCK DONKEY BALLS.
If we're going to be stuck with a name that SUCKS DONKEY BALLS, we should keep WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM.
CRedskinsRule 05-24-2021, 05:56 PM Nope. They will always be the Redskins to me. Will never buy anything with the new name and will never call them by their new name.Why. Do you call them the boston braves? Do you call the ravens the browns or colts? Time moves on. Once the decision was made (which i hated) you move forward. The Skins/Hogs are part of the franchise's history now.
Personally I don't want some generic non-name to build a new legacy on. Start new, and bring new memories for the youth to attach to. Think about a 10year old fan dressed getting syked to dress as a wolf or howl at the stadium. Thats awesomeness. Sitting in a wft bland jersey with no identity except the past for the future that sucks for a 10 yo fan. Us "adults" ought to be able to accept change and move forward to create an inspiring legacy for the next generation.

Easy. I have run across several Native American fans of the team through the years. Usually striking up a conversation when we both had Redskins gear on. They said they were fans of the team because of the name and the logo, both of which they were proud of because it represented their people. They said they knew that “white men who wanted to erase our people from the Earth” were behind forcing the name change. They asked me to continue wearing Redskins shirts after a name change to help keep native people alive in the public eye. I promised them I would. I’m a man of my word. They assured me that the name is in no way offensive and there was no reason for it to change. So as an adult, I’m being one by keeping my word. I oppose cancel culture.

That's fine, but the name Redskins is not coming back. If that were an option I would be absolutely for it. You can honor the name and more importantly honor Native Americans by continuing to wear and use the Redskins emblems - I certainly will. But WFT does not do that, in fact it exemplifies the truth of cancel culture - use no thing that can possibly offend someone, be as bland and unaware as is heavenly possible, lest your choice of warriors or wolves or midgets somehow offends a new portion of the population.
It is possible to honor the Redskins, and be behind the new name of the franchise at the same time.
FrenchSkin 05-24-2021, 07:38 PM Sorry but the "not picking a new name equals staying Redskins" is quite short sighted to me. It may work for you (but wouldn't it have a canada dry taste?), but what meaning would it have in 50 years for people being born now, and in 100 years for people born 50 years from now ? It'll keep sending back to a name that has zero meaning for them...
Plus, with how detailed a process Jason Wright has explained (https://www.washingtonfootball.com/news/washington-football-team-president-jason-wright-weekly-brief-9-30) times and times again (https://www.washingtonjourney.com/timeline/), I just don't think staying WFT is an option. They can't afford to go "You know the fans input we asked you to provide and were so proud to say how many we received ? We won't use them cause that's too expensive. You know the rebranding we talked about so much for a year and a half ? We won't do it cause it's too complicated. You know the new name we were supposed to reveal to the world soon and install for the 2022 season ? Well we don't have one so we'll keep the generic place holder"... Just not happening.
