I know. Was just wondering what you thought about holding onto him for trade bait ....

I think if someone wanted him they would have pounced right away. I have no problem giving him the chance to catch on somewhere else vs holding him captive for a late round pick that will probably never come.

Yeah. Agreed. It is the right thing to do.

Under Bruce there's no doubt we would have done something petty like hold on to him. It's good to have adults running the show now.

I mean..I don't think him backing another player is the end all be all, but in that situation, Trent was trying to hold the team hostage...and the more it played out, the more it was him using excuses to get more money on a contract that he already signed. Not to rehash that whole situation, but he knew not having a lt on the team would be debilitating...and he used that, and Moses backed it. Like...f>×_ the team...he should get that money. That's all I meant.
This does seem like financial planning for the year after this, though.
Regardless....he is not irreplaceable. Haven't been a fan of his for a while now, honestly. Can't stress enough....those penalties

Maybe but I was just addressing the comments by EdmundDorf about why they released him now instead of waiting to see if someone got desperate and offered a trade for him. I think it is a valid point. And yeah totally agree about ur take on him supporting a teammate.

I feel like releasing him now may indicate there is another veteran out there they may want to pick up (KJ Wright, Julio Jones, Aaron Rodgers; not necessarily in that order). 😉

I hope the money is used to extend Allen or Payne.

I never interpreted Trent situation as him just holding team hostage for money.
He almost died from what he perceives to be a misdiagnosis.
While I think he felt underpaid, stop and really ponder if it would really be all about money for you if team told you no problem, and then you had to have a brain tumor removed! That's FAR more important to Trent than retiring with $30M more in bank when he's already worth $50M+ at that point. I think he honestly felt he would never trust existing medical staff and FO again, and I don't blame him.

We can't know Washington's side because of HIPAA confidentiality, they are NOT allowed to disclose private medical info. Pro athletes are usually uneducated (despite having college degrees) with low IQs. It is entirely possible situation was explained to Trent correctly and he misinterpreted. Nonetheless, when you look at case history, right up to today with Allen BS, Trent's side is hardly ridiculous. Is there anyone besides Gibbs who has left Washington that hasn't been smeared or cornholed by THE DAN? Could be more systemic incompetency poor culture than some Dr. Evil let's kill Trent scenario. I mean Jesus, people have been complaining about our turf for a decade plus, we're just now doing it.

If they were going to punish Moses punitively, would have been done long before now. THE DAN has eaten millions upon millions to be the petulant turd of a human being he is, eating $20M to cut Moses years ago would have been NO problem. I think it is simply about RR making a smart personnel move. As you observe, penalties, but also getting absolutely destroyed in pass coverage off the edge far too often. He epitomizes our old paper tiger OL. Against better edge rushers he gets exposed. Moses is right siding with Trent, and I have nothing negative to say about his character, work ethic, etc., solely analysis of his play. We have MUCH cheaper players that are better pass blockers, period.

Nah. They aren't making any dumb trades.
And they can sign most anyone with super low number this year that balloons later years.

This was about being able to pick up several lineman, Leno Flowers, that no one knew for sure would be available, and draft one, Cosmi, that made a number of players expendable.

Suppose Leno mans LT. I think Cosmi is a day one starter at RT, though I prefer letting him try LT. Day one Cosmi is at least as good a pass blocker as Moses. Cosmi is making $6.7M over 4 years. He will cost less over four years than Moses would have this year. This is a case study in why draft picks are gold and you don't trade up in most cases. Belicheat in NE always LOVED high second round picks because you could get 1st round talent, if you draft smart, for super cheap deals. Cosmi costs 15%-20% of what Moses does, roughly, if you average value of his rookie deal over 4 years. Other teams that have 3-5 more picks than us per year, comp especially, or trade back aggressively or for future picks aggressively, will always be better if both run competently because of this dynamic.

Our FO did it right. You get rid of older players, replace them with draft picks, and spend most of your cap money signing young players you drafted who have proven success in your building, organization, and program and scheme. If you draft well long term, virtually all big deals go to players you drafted and know, which we are rolling up on hopefully. Better teams are always ruthless about getting rid of aging players. It is a cold blooded business, but letting guys like Moses, Kerrigan, etc., go was the right choice.

Scalper: I've given you a hard time before. And am still kinda doing it here.

Every once in a while, I'll read thru one of these novels, and I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying.

But for the most part, I just scroll past your posts, because it's just too much to read. This isn't a news site, it's a fan site.

I'm assuming you're posting here to engage with other fans, so that's why I'm saying this. I'm sure others agree. Less words please. It's America, so do what you want, but less words lol.

Ok, let's not get it twisted...he had a form of skin cancer, not a BRAIN TUMOR. Many doctors misdiagnose...medical practice is not fool proof. The team docs were monitoring the situation and when they thought it might be something more serious, they referred him to a specialist who made the cancer diagnosis. Cancer is often not found when we would like it to be found...it's F'n cancer... That's why Cancer sucks...
