PorkSkins 12-28-2020, 01:00 AM Yea welcome to.the party ( late as fuck) Fred.
I often listen to Smoot, and I don't think he was ever sold on Haskins. He was just hoping and wishing like most of us.

I officially apologize because at the end of last season and beginning of this season I had hoped the team would play Haskins all the 2020 season and then move on or keep him. Rivera gave him 4 games and that was enough. His fundamentals are terrible. He can’t read defenses nor can he go through an entire progression of WR. His accuracy is DISMAL. He had open receivers and he couldn’t get them the ball. Too high, too low, not hitting WR in stride. He’s throwing passes into tight coverage with three White Jersey defenders and one WFT player.
Any further plays with him as the QB is just a complete waste of time. However, if I was WRONG at supporting Haskins for this season, I was also right about getting him onto the playing field in the first season. Sitting an entire season on the bench , just wastes a season. Give him two entire seasons and if he can’t start winning and beating the NFL defenses, then it’s time to move on.
It was amazing that Rivera brought in a backup QB, with ZERO first team reps and he immediately began to move the team. Our players are OPEN, but Haskins couldn’t get the ball to them. If RR had brought in Heinickle for the entire second half I think the team could have won.
Use the draft picks we have to trade up into the top ten picks in 2021. In other words trade our first pick (2021) and second round pick (2021) to get into the top ten picks of this upcoming draft. We won’t get into the top 5 picks but we’ll get into the top 3-4 QB in this year’s draft picks. Let this QB mentor under Alex Smith and start after 5-8 games. He gets two years and then he either swims or sinks.
Use the FA money we have next season to get an ELITE #2 WR to compliment MacLaurin, another good TE FA to go with Thomas and add a couple good OL FA players and try to keep Scherff.

FrenchSkin 12-28-2020, 05:06 AM My biggest issue with the decision to play Haskins is this:
-They know he's not good enough, and they know way better than us he's not putting in nearly enough work during the week
-They know what Heinicke was, way better than us
-They lived the distraction Haskins created during the week
... And yet they still made the decision to play him ... Let's address the elephant in the room: was this a Dan Snyder induced decision ?

So many people are defending Ron, but I really feel that it is indeed possible that Dan forced Ron to start him. Like you said, they all knew all of that stuff. If it wasn't Dan forcing Ron, then Ron himself just wasn't trying to win yesterday. Putting Haskins out there shit on the rest of the team who have been working their ass off. A lot of them may not forgive that shit. They worked their asses off for essentially nothing because Ron is playing Haskins, who is just going through the motions on everything, and taking nothing seriously.
HASKINS SHOULDN'T BE BACK NEXT YEAR, but this is Danny boy we are talking about.

The way he's playing Dwayne better start saving those millions.
My biggest takeaway from this video is he never worked a real job before the NFL. It makes me wonder if there's any correlation between young qb's who have never worked a real job and NFL success.
And people talk about privilege...JFC pathetic
Never had a real job and had a car note in college? How’s that work?
GridIron26 12-28-2020, 08:27 AM There isn't much to say here, Haskins singlehandedly lost the game for the team.
For those people who are upset with Rivera for allowing Haskins to start the game - there are too many factors into this decision, and we don't know some of those factors. Several reasons you guys mentioned could be the reasons, but it also could not be the reasons. Maybe Rivera promised Snyder that he will give Haskins every opportunity to show that he can be the starter during the job interview. Whatever it is, it's done and we need to move forward. It is obviously Rivera is the right head coach for this team at this time, we need to be patient and let him do his work.
KI Skins Fan 12-28-2020, 08:59 AM Great minds think alike. Like some previous posters, I too felt the shadow of Dan Snyder creep across RR's decision to keep Haskins in the game until it was too late to win. We could have won that game with even half-decent QB play from the start.
I don't think Snyder actually directs RR's coaching moves but I think he might be lobbying Rivera enough to erode RR's decisiveness. Could Rivera be caught between pleasing his dumb shit boss and doing what he knows is right?
I honestly don't think Dan had anything to do with Dwayne playing. Heinicke just got here, there's no way any coach would have felt confident rolling with a guy off the street vs someone who's been here all year. You can question whether Ron left Dwayne in too long, that's a fair discussion.
Chief X_Phackter 12-28-2020, 09:17 AM I think there's zero chance Dan forced Ron to start Haskins, or is somehow pulling the strings from behind the curtain. Haskins played well enough in the second half of the Seattle game to get the nod, since Alex ultimately couldn't go. I'm convinced that RR and the coaching staff thought Haskins gave the team their best chance to win, and Haskins went out there and laid an absolute egg. It happens. No way they thought Heinicke would come in and show more than DH (against a softer defense, as has been pointed out). Maybe RR regrets not going to Heinicke earlier, or perhaps regrets starting Haskins at all, but hindsight is 20/20.
That said, it's hard to see a scenario where Haskins starts another game in the WFT uniform. If Haskins is starting next week, or even backing up the starter, then I'll start to question RR's decision making.
The gift TD on special teams, and the receivers' inability to catch the ball when it was actually put on them also didn't help. Collectively it wasn't a great day for the WFT (with the exception of the D - for the most part).
Gonna have to figure out a way to beat a better Philly team next Sunday night.
