Ron has earned my trust as a fan this season, so I'll wait and see what happens before thinking I know which direction they should go.

Having said that, I would be pretty bummed to see K. Smith leave. IDK what they're gonna do in the F.O. but I'd like them to retain Smith in some capacity.

Just looking at the roster and past 3 drafts... the guy (and his staff) are hitting it out of the park lately, the results speak for themselves.

With Ron coaching, Smith running player personnel and Wright handling the off-the-field business I feel really good with where this team could go. Let's get the logo figured out and it's full-steam ahead.

"Rivera not expected to drill down with FO plans until after the season, per source. Many of the rumored names make for obvious targets based on Rivera’s ties. There’s logic with adding another FO member. Needed context also key. The organization isn't there, yet."

Basically all these links and rumors are all journalistic supposition

What if the plan is to bring in someone like Hurney as GM and promote Kyle Smith to assistant GM?

I would be cool with that.I would also. Think it'd be the best of both worlds. I think this has a good chance of unfolding also. Smith must be kept. He has a very keen eye for talent.

Our team wouldn’t be there without the talent he has accumulated, maybe he’ll get us a QB we need instead of the owner.

I'd promote Smith to GM if it was my decision. But I'd be fine with another option if Smith was made aware and was agreeable.

It's amazing we're in the playoffs after already releasing a 1st rd qb from the prior year. Unheard of. Cannot wait to see what Rivera and Turner can do with this team with a new, talented qb. Getting a young, franchise signal caller and a legitimate #2 alongside McLaurin will transform this offense.

Isn't it worth considering that while obviously exposed to the rest of the FO workings, he's only worked in personnel. While I daresay his father has helped his education in the business side, he has no practical experience in managing the cap etc. The idea of bringing in a GM to mentor him makes a whole heap of sense than promoting him just because he's good in the draft. He needs a more rounded CV than that, doesn't he?

F&$#. Last thing I wanted to see but secretly knew was coming.

From @BenStandig

“As The Washington Football Team considers candidates for its open GM position, current expectations have the team focusing on making an outside hire, according to sources familiar with the situation. More coming on @TheAthleticDC.”

Guys I'm telling you. We lost McVay, and the guy in Green Bay right? Is Ron threatened by the young coaches/execs? Anyway I bet we notice a difference in drafts if Kyle leaves. I think we might be in for mediocrity if he leaves.

It's a reason why Hurneyy and those other guys don't have jobs. Give the young guys a chance. Wonder what Snyder would do if Kyle goes somewhere else, and is more successful than Ron down the line. I'd be pissed....

I mean, does all this scuttlebutt actually mean that Kyle is leaving? I haven't seen that, nor have I seen that anyone else is courting him.
