Funny aside: Steve Saban of Fox Sports Radio reminded me (and any other listeners - I'm not special) on the air this morning that Portis received multiple fines for non-conforming uniform violations - his colored socks - this past year. Clearly the money wasn't his issue - he spent more than $18,000 (what he settled for) on socks last year.

The money is not the issue its the contract they agreed to that matters. Portis came to and agreement to buy Olet's number and he should honor that agreement. The number came available for free after the deal was made so thats a Portis problem not Olet. I can understand why Portis barked at the payment but he still should have just paid. The only reason Portis has decided to pay is because he knew he was wrong and he thought the matter would go away after time which it did not.

I'm guessing it was something personal between CP and Iffy. Otherwise it's hard to understand why CP wouldn't cough up the dough.

still, it turns out they did have a signed contract with the equipment manager signing as a witness, and fred smoot helped broker the deal too. This should have been dealt with about a year ago.

i totally think that all of you guys are wrong about portis. he may have money coming out the a** but it is his money and he is earning it. the guy was cut and who was never going to be a star and portis is portis the guy who can just about break one for a touchdown everytime he touches the ball. he is the smoothest runner since sweetness (walter payton for those who don't know). when a guy gets cut let that be and just go about getting a new job with someone else. cp was going to get the number anyway.

Whoa, I like Portis alot. . .but man, ever see Eric Dickerson?

I don't think the Portis thing ended that quietly really, I mean they were only 1 day away from trial which means he spent thousands of dollars obtaining legal counsel only to pretty much give Ohalete (I never spell it right) exactly what he wanted. I think Portis was a real jerk over this situation.

I dont like how he handled it. But I wouldnt be surprised if his legal fees were exactly $2000. That would bump the cost of the number back up to what he initially agreed. Just a thought. Clinton gets a pass with me however. I like the guy. Faulty as it may be, he acts exactly how I would in his situation with his cash.

I like especially how Clinton is acting this offseason. He's being a real class act.

i heard that the reason portis settled it is because if portis had gone through with the trial it would've cost him like 38k even if he had won, which is a lot more than 20k. other than that portis has been a good leader this offseason, he's been here from the start of everything this offseason, he's being more vocal in the locker room, and he's stepping up his leadership role.

I hope he thought about how nice it would be to not have a "Portis goes to court" headline. He owed Iffy the money. He could have waited him out, but he didn't, he instead decided he didn't want to wait and bought him out. The fact that Iffy got cut doesn't matter.

Also, I would like to submit that this emotion name be changed from SmashFreakB to "SeanTaylorsRevenge"
