Chief X_Phackter 12-01-2020, 02:13 PM Saw a mock draft where the Giants, ahead of us, took a QB in Round 1.
Jones hasn't been great.
It's not out of the question. Judge didn't draft Jones, but I don't see that as a very likely scenario. He's been ok a year and a half into it, other than the turnovers, which seem to have subsided of late. He's still young, and likely who they are going to build around.

Only way the Giants draft another QB is if Gettleman gets fired.
Warthog 12-05-2020, 01:01 PM In FA the team should spend the money to get Allen Robinson. The McLaurin / Robinson tandem would be freaking awesome. Then we’d have Cam Sims and Harmon vying for the slot WR. That really fixes the WR hole and gives us a formidable WR group for Alex Smith.
The first draft pick should go for our future QB - BYU’s QB (?). Alex Smith is playing well, but he’s living on borrowed time. His last act in the NFL, as a player, will be to mentor the team’s new franchise QB, next season.
The second draft pick should go for the OL.
There are several hard decisions coming up this offseason in FA: Scherff vs Rouiller, or Allen vs Payne. I’d put the team’s money on Allen and Scherff. The team needs to be judicious with the FA money and not get bogged down with a bunch of very high salaries.
Right now the worst salary hit we have is the very high Collins salary. Dumping Collins may be too tough next season (cap hit), but he has NOT earned his salary. Just like Van Norman, the Collins contract was a typical Daniel Snyder special: raising hope in the attempt to “win the off-season”. Well, Rivera is changing the team’s culture and as long as we keep Kyle Smith and prevent Snyder from drafting players on his own, our player pool will get better!

Chico23231 12-05-2020, 01:42 PM I really like Curtis Samuel to compliment Terry over Robinson. He’s gonna be more affordable and a little younger.
Take that saved money and put towards another need or resigning our own
Warthog 12-06-2020, 08:03 AM The point is that the team needs to use FA to get an elite WR. The younger the better. But he has to be on a level to take the pressure off MacLaurin. So no journeyman WR, we need to a player in the excellent to outstanding level. This is where to spend the money. This should be the first priority in FA.
Another FA choice is to get a good TE. Another tough decision will be to bring in a kicker FA for a competition next TC.
The draft will be used first for the QB, then the OL. If Kyle Smith is the GM, he has been able to bring in rookie STARTERS from the lower draft picks. Keep it up!!

I’m certainly welcomed to add more talent at WR and thought coming into the season Terry was a good WR and not elite, no 1...so this year has changed my mind. I think Terry has bumped his game and established himself as the No 1...I feel now with still many holes across the team, that getting a complimentary talent to Terry should be the path.
Certainly someone with more speed...Robby Anderson or Curtis Samuel would fit that bill. I also prefer someone who is more an outside WR (Anderson, Robinson) than slot guy (Godwin, Golloday).
Another reason I see not to spend the super elite money like Robinson will demand and Cooper got last year is offense scheme is spreading the ball around more...Cam Sims, Sims jr, Wright, etc are all getting looks and developing.
sdskinsfan2001 12-06-2020, 02:46 PM I'd be pretty damn happy with this draft. I go back and forth on who I like more out of Lance and Wilson. As of now, I like Lance more.
9: R1 P9 - QB Trey Lance - North Dakota State
41: R2 P9 - OT Christian Darrisaw - Virginia Tech
73: R3 P9 - LB Charles Snowden - UVA
77: R3 P13 - LB Dylan Moses - Alabama
111: R4 P9 - S Damar Hamilin - Pittsburgh
150: R5 P9 - TE Chase Allen - Iowa State
231: R7 P9 - WR Shi Smith - South Carolina
239: R7 P17 - TE Jamal Pettigrew - LSU

AnonEmouse 12-07-2020, 01:03 PM Agreed, based on current sample size he's an unknown. Could be Haskins mk 2 and right now not a high 1st rounder. I'm also a little concerned that he decided to skip the 21 spring season in favour of the draft; I get the logic, but personally I'd want a better body of f work, especially recent, to bring to the table. Not least because his one game played since last season wasn't exactly his best work!
But likewise it's still too early to project anyone especially given the impact of Covid, so...

I'd take Lance over any OSU QBs.
I like the path of building around Smith for a couple years.
Devonta Smith, who I mentioned before went INSANE this week. 219 yards and 3 TDs in the first half against LSU.
Get him beside Terry.
