SFREDSKIN 01-05-2021, 11:24 AM If we took Jones at 19 I'd be cool with that
If we win Saturday (never know) we could be drafting higher, hopefully he’s still there. Any of these guys would be an improvement over Haskins.

Agree
Ohioskins 01-05-2021, 01:39 PM My grandmother, and she has been dead for over 20 years, would be an improvement over what we got out of Haskins.
sdskinsfan2001 01-05-2021, 01:49 PM Trade down and draft Ridder. I'd like that plan. Risky 1st round pick protected by adding at least 1 additional pick.

Why trade down? He's not a first round talent. He'll be there in the third round if you really want him, IMO. Take one of the WRs, RBs, LBs, or OTs in the first if you don't like the QBs still on the board and take a shot at a project like Ridder later, if our scouts see something in him. I've got to say, though, he didn't impress me vs. Georgia, frankly.

He is a QB with untapped potential. No guarantee he makes it all the way down to 51, let alone the 3rd round.
Not saying they absolutely should do that. But it's an option I'd be good with.
But picking him at 19 is too high. I'd rather risk waiting to the 2nd round then gambling at 19, if those were the only 2 options.

Agree 100%. He might not make it to the 2nd round, kid has potential and shows good fundamentals.
Ohioskins 01-05-2021, 02:53 PM There is some discussion in Ohio that Ridder may stay for his senior year in order to build his value for next year's draft. One factor is whether Luke Finkel will stay as UC Head Coach. From what I have heard on local sports talk show, Ridder knows he is probably not a first rounder at this point and is thinking that another year to improve his game could vault him into the upper tier of QB's next year.

As I said, I don't see him as a first rounder and I believe that he'll be there for us in the third, if we want him. But my eye is certainly untrained. It really all depends on what our scouts, coaches, KS, and RR see in him. They've earned my trust and I'm good with whatever they decide. Personally, I'd rather have Jones, as he has impressed me quite a bit. I'd be happy with him at 19. If we pick at 25 and can get him there, even better! :) I'm not fixated on any one guy, however. As I said, I don't really have a whole lot of knowledge, and I trust in the guys that WFT have in place to make those decisions.

This makes sense.
