I just looked at our depth chart. Idk who some of these guy are.. lol.

Also they have Gibson as the starter? Crazy.

RR i think has always been one to not shy away from starting rookie rb’s. Also Im not sure who else would be a sure shot starter with Guice and AP gone....Mckissic is a third down back. Barber is meh. Love is basically a rookie too and coming off an injury.

Redskins 31
Eagles 16

Defense will eat Wentz alive. Combine for 9 sacks. They get lucky on one deep TD pass because that's our weakness on D. Aside from that, only FGs.

Haskins and McLaurin will hook up for 2 TDs, another to Logan Thomas. Gibson will run for the other TD, a 30+ yard run. Hopkins hits a 34-yard FG in his only
try.

Haskins finishes with 275 passing, another 35 rushing and 3 TD passes. McLaurin for 150, 2 TDs. Gibson 125 AP yards, 1 TD run.

I don't really get why people are so high on the Eagles.
Their WRs are two 30+ years old guys and a 5th round pick, their OL is banged up already, their Dline on paper is decent but didn't produce that much last year, nor did their secondary and they lost some key DBs this year, even with the addition of Darius Slay, not that impressed.

More than ever, this game will be won or lost in the trenches. If our promising front 7 dominates a banged up OL, and our question mark riddled OL can hold their ground against a decent Eagles DL, we'll win this one. But if our young DL doesn't produce and our OL struggles, it'll be a long afternoon (well evening for me but who cares).

I'll let the optimist in me make the projection and go Skins 17 - 13 Eagles.

From a talent perspective, eagles are overrated. They have the flashy talent vets such as Slay, Fletch, Ertz and...Lane Johnson/Kelce on the oline, but overall are pretty average. Plus they are banged up big time.

Them: 9-7 NFCE champs
Us: 3-13 winners of the Chase Young sweepstakes

Them: vet team with the same coach for the past 5 years
Us: one of the youngest teams in the NFL with a new everything

Line: Eagles -6

Them: 23
Us: 17

We will see how it plays out.

Big plays will be available against the Eagles secondary. Their CB in camp were awful not named Slay.

While running the ball is key to winning football...I would love us to come out and throw the ball aggressively against this team

I think the talking heads are just not giving enough credit to booting B. Allen out and replacing him as the head football operations with Rivera. I just think that the players are a lot more comfortable with the RR being in charge. I am not talking coaching so much as the team's messaging to players and their ability to trust it.

Additionally, I don't think enough credit is given to the significant leap in coaching that has take place from Gruden/Manusky to Rivera/Del Rio. Whereas Manusky seemed to barely tap the talent he had, I firmly believe JDR is going to get the most out of every player. Also, I think (but am not certain) RR is a much better game manager than Gruden - but, that's not setting the bar very high.

Remember one of JDR's first comments? The D had some talent but wasn't communicating. Reporter's (particularly J. Keim) have commented on this in the past. This year, players are gonna talk and play as a team. I expect a HUGE jump in the D's performance. I fully expect a lot fewer big plays based on miscommunication in the secondary. On top of that, they have the guys to rush the passer and jam the line.

For me, Haskins is the question mark and his progress will make or break the season. Rivera said he wanted the QB's to know their progressions and wasn't worried about accuracy. I get that, but Haskins accuracy HAS to improve. He left a lot of points on the board and threw a lot of picks just based on his inability to CONSISTENTLY make an accurate throw. If he fixes that, the sky's the limit.

Philly just doesn't impress me. They were a 9-7 team last year. They have solid but not spectacular coaching. Wentz is a good QB who can be streaky great. He also, however, puts the ball on the ground.

Chase Young is going to have an LT-like debut. They just won't be ready for him.

Philly is going to lose by a convincing amount. Most of the 4th quarter will be spent with WFT fans thinking "Well, how are they going to blow this?" ... and then they won't. They will play solid football (as solid as they can giving the lack of preseason, etc.) from beginning to end.
