Seen a few criticisms about taking Smith-Williams. It makes sense to me given he was expected to go quite a bit earlier. Depth at DE, puts pressure on Sweat and Allen if nothing else, but also maybe gives us freedom to lose Kerrigan (assuming he's not staying at OLB). But anyone know if there's a reason he fell to round 7? Any red flags?

Smith-Williams had a spate of injuries that caused him to miss 5 games in 2019. That's all I know.

Why would we want to lose Kerrigan? He was a DE in college, he's played with his hand in the dirt with the Redskins and, until proven otherwise, he is still our most productive pass rusher.

OK. But it's accurate.

He's too small to play tight end too.

Someone asked why he wasn't drafted. Those are the reasons.

First you say he's too fat, now you say he's too small. Don't get why you're biased against Moss, but it is obvious that you are. He's certainly not too small and the reason - singular - he went undrafted was his foot injury. Teams had no chance since the combine to see how his recovery is progressing. Very good blocker with very good hands. Really good undrafted FA signing, IMO.

I think we may have snagged a good one here. But it's a long shot.

Freshman year at NC State -- 6 catches, for 49 yards and a TD.
Soph year -- Transferred to LSU, so sat out
RS Soph year -- foot injury missed whole year
RS Junior year -- 47 catches, 570 yards, 4 TD's.

I mean, it's a pretty small resume.

National Championship game 5 receptions, 36 yards, 2 TD's ... he shined.

But do we really know what we have in this guy??

No .. we don't.

Hence, UDFA.

Exactly. Perfect place to get him.

We do know that he's a strong blocker. We also know that he doesn't drop passes. We also know that when he's played, he's played well. We do know that he performed very well against a lot of top 10 teams this past season. He was given a 4th round grade by most, 3rd by some. If the foot is healed, this is a great UDFA signing, IMO. I was really hoping that we would draft him when he was still there in round 7, and I'm very happy that we got him anyway.

Don't see how we're really in a spot to be picky about TE lol

Moss is going to make the team. He does everything pretty well, AND HE BLOCKS. He's not the athlete like Davis or has the moves like Reed, but he has plenty of room to improve. Probably should have went back to school but so be it. He's on a team that not only can he make it, he has a chance to play and play a lot.

I didn't explain myself. I meant IF Kerrigan proves surplus we can afford to lose him as we have depth. Don't want to see him go but he does tie up a lot of cap given he appears on the downslope now. If we can accommodate everyone in the DL group all to the good, but we cant be sentimental.
