This is a smart move by the team. It gives them a solid back up, and someone who can start if sh*t goes down.

well ... we have our young backup. He just turned 24 a couple weeks ago.

If we took a project QB w the 5th ... we would be fine with that.

Exactly...I think this is a good move. Who knows how much of a training camp they'll get for Haskins to learn this offense, so they wanted someone in the building who already knows it. I remember Carolina fans saying how much better of a passing QB this kid was compared to Newton. And yes that too, this now should mean no chance of them bringing in Cam as well.

This is about right.

Makes more sense to use that 5th round pick for a kid with NFL experience, whom the staff knows, and who knows the system.

Y'all need to get over the fact that the new staff is going to bring in players and coaches they are more familiar with, and who they think are the right fit. I'm more than ok with this move.

It's a solid move if you believe he can compete for the job.. If you were signing just a backup that could have happened with a trade. I think Turner really liked the guy and wanted him to compete for the job.

For the 2nd pick in the fifth round I would have expected another pick to come back the other way... if he sees any significant time then Haskins is injured or incapable, in which case I would rather tank for Trevor then win 3 or 4 games because of a scrappy backup, if it was for a sixth or future mid fifth then I wouldn't have a problem... but seems a lot for a guy who will only see the field if things turn to crap....... interested to know where Alex Smith stands at this point, pun not intended

Pricey...but someone Turner and Ron trust.

He's limited enough that this will clear the way for Haskins to start.

Id rather have this than Cam

Yeah, thinking about it, seems a high 5th perhaps would be too much .. a 6th we would be fine with. Should have gotten a 7th in return perhaps.

^^ link Car immediately signs XFL qb .. who looked good.

Perhaps we could have waited for Allen to be released .... but then he probably would have signed somewhere else .. maybe.

This trade is absolute dogshit. We have limited picks and he only signed a 1 year deal. I guess we're just organically changing the team name. Washington Carolinas (can't have 2 Panthers).
