My apologies, i don't mean to imply we won't get one ever, i just mean that the FDA may not approve Pfizer or Moderna. So we may not get an approved vaccine until sometime mid - late 2021 as more companies file for FDA approval.
I'm not sure how the FDA deals with public pressure, but i imagine at some point they are going to face heavy criticism especially if most of the world begins rolling out vaccines and we don't. I really think vaccines are the only way out of this.
IMO, Pfizer will be approved by the end of the week. Moderna will be the week after. Two weeks TOPS. Vaccines will be distributed to at risk population within the next 2-3 weeks.
I do not agree with the logic that a country approving something before us implies they are doing a better job. There is no grand conspiracy here. There are necessary rigors to ensure vaccine efficacy and safety that are in place for a reason (see RSV Vaccine in the 60's).
Especially given the disinformation climate we live in, it's imperitive that the job is done correctly. I would be curious what concrete evidence exists out there that anything else is going on. Dunning-Kruger at it's finest.

This. Sad to say it might take a little longer for a vaccine to get approved because they absolutely have to make sure everything is in proper order now that conspiracy theories are increasingly legitimized.

I listened long enough to get the gist, thanks. Odds are low, but not impossible. Could Guliani's pants be the only protection between a room full of lawmakers getting COVID through a Guliani fart? It's a theory.

At 15,067,819, the U.S. leads the world with the most cases of COVID-19. It also leads the world in the most coronavirus fatalities with some 285,190 lives lost, per estimates from Johns Hopkins University.
“The epidemic in the U.S. is punishing. It’s widespread,” Dr. Michael Ryan, the World Health Organization's emergencies chief, said during a Monday news conference. “It’s quite frankly, shocking, to see one to two persons a minute die in the U.S. — a country with a wonderful, strong health system (and) amazing technological capacities."

I love America ... but I wish things like wearing a mask and social distancing didnt become tribal warfare.
