Can someone please explain to me as a complete Layman, what the expectation level is towards the FDA, and whether or not they approve the Covid vaccines?
Is the expectation among industry / medical / scientific people right now that FDA approval is granted without any issue?
or is this more of a shot in the dark, desperation type attempt?
intelligent WP'ers, what do you see happening?
I'm not an intelligent WP'er so feel free to disregard, but shouldn't it be the CDC leading the process to approve a potential vaccine?

No, the FDA is in charge of approving the vaccine, not the CDC.

Thanks for clarifying.
I haven't seen anything that indicates this is being rushed without following proper procedures for vaccines. And if the right people (Fauci for me) endorsed it that would be good enough for me. I expect it to be politicized though, and every conservative who thinks Fauci is worthless to disagree with me on that.

Dr. Fauci does believe in them, and Obama has even offered to take the vaccine on TV along with his family to try and re-assure people that everything is okay with it and it is safe.
I suppose now with the UK approving it, the race is on for the other countries to approve / roll out. Canada is expected to approve within days, followed by Spain and Mexico, from what I have read. If approved, i have the USA finishing fourth or later. I guess the thing that I can't understand, is that how a vaccine that was developed and produced in America, was approved for use in foreign countries before it was here. Just strange, IMO.
Different countries = different approval processes

So do you feel comfortable that the FDA will approve one or more of the vaccines who have submitted EUA requests? Is there any scenario where all of the other countries have the vaccines but we don't?
Haven't given it much thought to be honest, but the vaccines seem to be on track to be approved here.

Definitely something I hope we can all agree on. I feel like there's gotta be at least one person here who is anti-vaccer though.
