I'm not one of the fans that are all over Chase like many skins fans are.. Some are saying ridiculous comments like "future hof" or "17 sacks a season" that's just stupid

Well anyone averaging 17 sacks a season is insane, but with him matching with Sweat I think they can combine for 25 when both are healthy and at their ceiling. I just think he is gonna help take our defense to another level. We just dont have that star and people are looking forward to that potential.

The Bosa comparison isn't fair though because he had a stacked team around him and amazing offensive mind coaching in Shanny.

In the games where he had zero sacks he was being double and even triple teamed. No opponent has shut him down with one on one blocking. So even is he does not produce a sack, he will be opening up lanes for other members of the D line.

EVERY draft pick is a gamble. Can an outstanding college talent transition to the pro level? Can a young man with insane amounts of money (for that age) and fame, avoid the temptations that they bring? Can this player avoid injury at the NFL’s increased speed and power?

I see exciting things for Chase based on a few factors:

1. Mentorship - Kerrigan will be able to mentor Young about taking care of his body, maturity and learning the tricks of the trade as a elite Edge player.

2. Coaches - The Redskins FINALLY have an excellent HC, who has built teams before and taken them to the top. They also have an outstanding Defensive Coordinator in Del Rio. Prior excellent talent like Sweat, Kerrigan, Allen, Payne and Ionnadis was freaking WASTED due to poor coaching by Manusky and the awful DC before him. People were criticizing Sweat for not enough sacks when he was dropping back in pass coverage 50% of plays!! Going from terrible to outstanding coaching is going to TRANSFORM this defensive squad.

3. New DEFENSIVE talent - besides Young, we will add at least Fuller and Davis to the mix. Outstanding coaching and teaching at Defense plus new talent is going to transform this squad.

Will Chase Young be a Star? A superstar? A draft bust? We do not know until he plays here. But he has the building blocks to excel if he can stay heathy, stay away from the party life, and learn from his mentors and coaches. I’m excited to see him grow here on a (future) very good defense!!

I'm getting tired of so many people here saying "Well, Chase is good but he isn't this and he isn't all-world" because it is all irrelevant in terms of DL play because a DL, much like an OL, is more than the sum of it's parts. We all know that Chase is a rare talent who is almost certain to cause problems for any offense but let's look at the whole DL with Chase. Just use your knowledge of what the current D-Linemen bring to the table and try to imagine this:

1. We're going to a four man line that will play an attacking, gap shooting style.
2. Forget about DE's dropping into coverage. They will be disruptors, sharks.

On passing downs:
3. Chase will play next to Matty Ice who is a sack master in his own right.
4. Sweat will play next to Jon Allen who can get after it, as well.
5. Matty will play between Chase and Allen.
6. Jon will play between Sweat and Matty.

On running downs:
7. We can play Da'Ron and Settle at DT and Matty and Jon at DE.

Depth:
8. We've got Settle and Kerrigan to use however Jack Del Rio decides.
9. Jack can rotate his DL's so that they are all fresh all day long.
10. Jack can use any combination of these players he can think of, effectively.

I haven't even mentioned run and pass blitzes by LB's or DB's.

Yes, indeed! With Chase just being Chase and not even all-world Chase and a new top-notch DC we are going to have a bad-ass DL.

People forget our DC last season sucked. We had position coaches that had more experience and could of called better schemes JMO. We now have credible personnel holding down the DC spot. CY along with what we already have should take the front 4 alot better which should make the back 7 fast. HTTR.

I think the Redskins were last against the run and worst on 3rd down. You can't blame that all on Manusky.

I think Del Rio is going to show just how bad Manusky was
