I can't speak for anyone else but, if we don't trade down its going to be a boring draft for me.

Just watch Chase Young highlights all night. Sometimes boring is good. Can't wait to have him. Game changer.

Why is everyone so keen to trade down? To win now that's why. Well newsflash, we're at least 1 season from competing for a playoff place and at least 2 from being able to do that consistently/progressing beyond the 1st round. I say build a team that's going to be challenging for 5-10 years, not throw it all in on trading away from a player that could be a difference maker. I sure hope RR has more patience than the fans!

He does. That’s why he’s an NFL head coach and we are on a fan forum.

Trading back for more picks seems to be the patriots model of doing business and they have several super bowls to prove it works. They very seldom get enamored by one player. Besides that the more picks you have the better chance you have of hitting on them. I agree that it looks like Young is going to be a good one, but every year some of these top players are supposed to be great and they turn out to be busts. If we could trade down a few spots and say get Simmons and a T,CB, or WR, and then a 2nd I'd do it. Not only that whose to say we couldn't trade back to 5 and then to 7 for more. Not saying its going to happen but it is an option. I just wouldn't want to go back anymore than that.

It has been - what - 25 years since the Patriots at an early first round pick? Yes, they have a habit of trading the 32nd pick of the first round for the 10th pick in both the 2nd and 3rd, but that really doesn't compare to trading the #2 pick when Chase Young is on the board, does it?

Me too.

There's zero chance anyone will give us what we think we should get for the 2nd overall pick ... who is going to give us multiple first round picks? And throw in a 2nd rounder? Just fan board fantasy talk.

Faced with that reality, give me the kid who can come in and play right away, and make the rest of that D-Line even better.

The Patriots have a system based on having the NFL’s greatest QB OF ALL TIME play for them for 20 years. He ALWAYS played for salaries below what he is worth, in order to help the team. Because they are a perennial winner, they yearly have high-quality players flocking to the Patriot on a short-term, under-paid contracts in order to win a SB ring. They are a highly disciplined teams and because they always win, it’s “their way or the highway”. Most player are dumped at age 30. Now Let’s see how they will do without the NFL’s greatest. QB. I could stand for them to go through the kind of suck azz seasons most teams experience regularly.
