Chase Young or Three First Round Picks?

IMO the only way we don't take CY is if Cinci take him or some team embarrasses us with 1st round picks.

Call me crazy, I would take CY over multiple picks, he’s that good and would be a huge difference maker with our Dline and Sweat on the other side. You think SF’s D is good? Wait till next year, our D could be better.

I agree. If Bosa wasn’t in there applying huge pressure in the SB, the Chiefs would have blown them out much earlier in the game. Also, I think with the much, much better coaching and instruction from Del Rio / RR our DL will be more balanced than the Chief’s. I noticed as the game went on they started to double-team Bosa and the pass rush slowed down. Chase Young will be a monster, but Sweat needs to ramp up his game also, or teams will load up on CY. I have no doubt that Sweat will improve a great deal this year with his pass rush. I think if he stays healthy and he’s playing opposite CY, Sweat will DOUBLE his number of sacks (to 15).

Also, if Ionnidis is playing at the same level as last season or better, maybe he will replace Allen or Payne on the first team. It’s not what your draft number was, but how well you play. The best way to stop the Uber-talented, passing QB we will face, is to apply pressure to them from the front four. With the addition of Chase Young, greatly improved coaching, our front 4 will ascend to the elite status this coming season.

I draft Young for 3 reasons.

We'd have an immediate impact player a la Watt/Bosa that would make the rest of the line better immediately.
In a 4-3 we need a steady tackle and tackle/end combination inside as well as the rushers outside. We'd have 6 young DL that could play in almost any effective combination, including a 5 man line to remove the need for a blitzing LB and 6 man short yardage line. That means we can concentrate on getting LBs that are not pass rushers but pure run stuffers and coverage guys. And that group could play together consistently for 2-3 years before we have to worry about the group breaking up with FA.
We can't let Young go to the Giants and face him every year.

Yep, he's a Bosa clone and someone the skins desperately need

Young, Sweat, Ioannidis, Payne, Allen, Settle, Foster, Anderson, Holcomb, Collins, Dunbar (if he can stay healthy)

The potential to be a special defense is there

still need 1 more Safety to replace Montae but that can be done. Another CB wouldn't hurt either

I would say a lot more is needed at the linebacker level. Cole Holcomb is fine as a depth guy but I'd like a lot more athleticism at that position. Covering the Zach Ertz's and Evan Engram's of the world takes some serious speed. Reuben Foster helps a lot there but I need a lot more at LB. If Cole Holcomb is one of your opening day starters I think you've given the opposing offense an area to attack with a game plan built around an athletic tight end.

Im really interested in what Ron thinks about the linebacker talent. Will be interesting to see how he approaches it in the offseason.

Speed is a concern at LB for sure, If u look at both teams last night they had good speed at LB. I agree with u

Holcomb is not slow. Also, he was a rookie last season; he'll get better.

Foster is a big concern. He isn't close to being able to play yet and there's no way to know if he'll be able to play at the same level when he returns. If he recovers fully, he should make a big difference at LB.

I think Anderson could surprise as a LB. He is a good football player.

I think we have a chance to be good at LB without adding anyone but I'd love to add more talent at LB in the draft, at least.
