SunnySide 01-08-2020, 12:46 PM Callahan handcuffed KOC and finally loosened them up, interesting read:

That is an interesting read. Nice find SFred.
Ruhskins 01-08-2020, 12:58 PM I think the Giants wanted Rhule, but Carolina's stealthy operation to fly into Waco and offer a higher than high contract offer - more than the Giants were willing to pay for an unproven (on the NFL level) college coach, sealed the deal. Judge may end up being the better hire anyway... Seems to be well respected from what I've heard.
What's happening in NY is what would have happened here, had Bruce Allen stayed with the team in any capacity. Like it was the case here before, no major coaching candidates were thrilled to work with Gettleman.
In Rhule's case, I believe it came down to how much power he would have compared to Gettleman. Carolina was willing to give him more power than Gettleman was willing to do so.
Chief X_Phackter 01-08-2020, 01:43 PM There was a report I heard on sports radio today saying that Rhule gave NY the opportunity to match Carolina's offer. Clearly a no go there. Rhule did turn Baylor around quickly and that program was about as low as could be. He will be intriguing at the pro level for sure. Many are quick to dismiss what he can do in the NFL, but he deserves a fair chance.
And now he will get it. I suppose, broadly speaking, coaching is coaching. However, the Big 12 (10) is a different animal than the NFL. Some college HCs transition just fine, and some do not. Only time will tell.
So nice to see the staff being put together by the coach, with no weirdness. I have no issue with Turner, Carolina's offense has been as progressive as anyone in the league, similar to Baltimore with the focus on McCaffrey vice Jackson. Finding ways to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers. And they did it still being physical and running the ball, huge plus for me. Anyone else interested to see what happens with Love healthy next year? Guice, Mclauren, Harmon....lot to work with.
FrenchSkin 01-09-2020, 12:37 AM One thing I haven't seen mentioned is Scott Turner was a QB coach (Vikings 2014-2016 and Panthers 2018-2019), so I don't think there's anything to make us fear there's gonna be a huge setback in Haskins development...
njant 01-09-2020, 09:37 AM I want to play devil's advocate here. What if KOC disagree with Riveria's coaching/teaching strategies in general? Should Riveria still keep KOC, just for sake of the continuity?
guys even thou koc seemed good we don,t know how good or bad he was , if he was that darn good at the beginning then why didn,t he call plays when gruden was here ,lets see what turner does because are off. stunk for many reasons and play calling was one of it i was not impressed with koc

good lord, how big were those jeans?
BigHairedAristocrat 01-09-2020, 12:47 PM Marty Hurney may be the favorite to land the GM Job after the draft per The Athletic... Hurney is currently the Panthers GM.
Washington Panthers lol
Panthers fans are ready to help him pack his bags. He's not well liked there. Just comparing drafts, Kyle Smith has done far better the past 3 years. If Hurney were brought in and replaced Smith as our draft-guru, I'd be extremely disappointed and less optimistic that Rivera is truly bringing in the best people and instead just bringing his less-talented friends. If we want to bring in someone from the outside instead of elevating Smith, it should be someone with a proven record of success.

Cam thinks very highly of Turner. Got to count for something.
skinsfaninok 01-09-2020, 03:47 PM The #Redskins and Senior VP of Football Operations and General Counsel Eric Schaffer have agreed to mutually part ways now instead of May, source said. He’s a respected front office executive who already has interest from several other teams.
