Most if the original Redskin fans here came from when TV coverage started in the 1980s, use to have an Art Monk Jersey, the last twenty years have somewhat eroded the fan base here ( as everywhere) and you could never be quite sure how long someone was going to hang around, buying their jersey was usually the kiss of death.

Yep, that was when it started for me and what a great time to be a Skins fan. When Channel 4 TV started their 'American Football Show' they employed an NFL consultant named Ken Thomas. Ken's wife Janie was my school teacher, one day she brought a Redskins helmet in to class and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. The rest is history...

As you say when things aren't going your way then fans start to drift away, its the same with any team in any sport aside from the hardcore. The recent changes are only going to have a positive impact as far as I am concerned and hopefully that will lead to success. That success will bring lapsed fans flocking back in their droves.

I got into the NFL when we started getting games on TV (World of Sport then C4) and started playing in UK leagues in the early 80s. Skins fan from the start. Had various jerseys, Green, Bailey, Coles, Arrington but my fave is a Sean Taylor Pro Bowl. Haven't bought a jersey since as there hasn't been a player made me want to go out and get one like ST.😐

Back to the topic, we have to get Young. If only because it gives us a potential franchise player for years to come that we can build an ethos around, a la Watt, Boss etc.

Wow. Another British Invasion! My brother in law lives in Northwood. Does that count?

Btw The origin of the name Chase is derived from medieval England and means “dweller at the hunting ground”. No wonder he gets after the quarterback.

I went to NFL.Com and looked up the history of the #2 pick:

There are some pretty nice defensive players listed.

I’ve heard on Twitter (not a great or reliable news source) that Rivera is calling Chase Young the PREDATOR.

Unless Chase totally tubes the Combine or team interviews, I believe he will be our pick, rather than trading for more picks.

PREDATOR!

TE just kept not being best choice. If we signed Austin Hooper and had this draft I'd be pretty excited:

2: R1P2 - EDGE - CHASE YOUNG - OHIO STATE
66: R3P2 - RB - D'ANDRE SWIFT - GEORGIA
105: R4P2 - OT - SAAHDIQ CHARLES - LSU
141: R4P38 - S - KYLE DUGGER - LENOIR-RHYNE
148: R5P2 - WR - DEVIN DUVERNAY - TEXAS
216: R7P2 - LB - WILLIE GAY JR. - MISSISSIPPI STATE
229: R7P15 - CB - TROY PRIDE JR. - NOTRE DAME
