Giantone 06-27-2022, 07:02 PM And that is how great republics end. No,this is how........... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C08vbGjUsAAwgB6.jpg Giantone 06-27-2022, 07:03 PM https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FVya25WXwAELWph?format=jpg&name=small Real life…sadly $ 4.65 in Maryland today. Lie again chico Chief X_Phackter 06-27-2022, 08:17 PM Would be nice https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FWRRXTcXkAAYO1Q?format=jpg&name=small Would be nice? That just might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen you say MTK. Actually, I'm quite sure it is. So basically you are saying Fuck the Constitution. Fuck Freedom and Liberty. Not no, but hell no. If you or anyone else doesn't like, appreciate, or believe in what the "Founding Fathers" did in securing America's independence and creating this great nation - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - where you can 'make whatever laws you want'. We're not "servants" of long-dead men. However, we better realize what we have, and do what we can to continue to protect it. It's not perfect, but it's better than what the other 95% has. When Benjamin Franklin was asked after signing the Constitution if they had created a monarchy or a republic, Franklin replied: “A republic, if you can keep it.” Seriously, if you feel shackled by ghosts - GTFO. Chico23231 06-28-2022, 08:29 AM Brainstatic sounds like Liberal Quanon, extreme but in the end, completely ridiculous. It’s a lack of knowledge and awareness. I mean “I don’t care what of the founding fathers wanted” or “Jesus was a hippie or not”…Brainstatic is walking around with a Buffalo Headress with his face painted. BaltimoreSkins 06-28-2022, 09:07 AM Nobody is saying Fuck the constitution or liberty or freedom. There are myriad of democracies across several continents that have looked at the flaws of our system and made it to fit the needs of an evolving society yet we can't for many reasons. What we are saying is the amendments created in an agrarian society by some erudite honkies do not necessarily fit the needs of our modern society. There were plenty of things they got right but way more they got wrong. Yes some of that was altered in future amendments but we are still paying a societal cost. I love the idea of being able to amend the constitution but I think we all know that ship has sailed in the current political landscape. It gets highly frustrating when legislation is suggested that fit the needs of a modern society and has overwhelming support it can't pass because politicians will say it violates the constitution. Well no this is what we the American people want. We tell you we want it and the politicians of the United States chose not to. The law of the land should fit our needs not a narrative. Look no further than universal background checks. 80% of Americans want it including 72% of NRA members. Yet it will never pass the senate. The argument we have it better than most so just be happy with it doesn't hold. We don't even have the best democracy on our continent any more. This doesn't mean I should be forced to leave because I disagree with you. My family has sacrificed a lot for you to be that hateful towards your fellow Americans to tell us to GTFOH, we have tried to make it a better place for more Americans but there is a long way to go. Our politicians need to start listening to the constituents instead of their interests or we will never deviate from the norm. MTK 06-28-2022, 09:24 AM Would be nice? No, I'm not saying any of that. I understand the basic principles that were put in place as a guidelines and the value of that. My point was more of supporting a living document vs strict originalism. Giantone 06-28-2022, 10:20 AM No, I'm not saying any of that. One that grows at the same rate the Country it represents grows. Chico23231 06-28-2022, 11:06 AM Nobody is saying Fuck the constitution or liberty or freedom. Western civilization really amazing…look around and see the failures everywhere else and spend the day making the excuses for them. That got much more right than wrong to the point it became a model around the world. Communism has failed, Socialism has failed, Fascism has failed. They have come and gone…we still remain. The data says less than 1/5th of lawful gun owners commit gun crime. Background checks, will this actually stop the people who are committing the majority of the gun crime? When will democrats actually focus on the people committing gun crime? It’s like people don’t even know the facts or want to avoid the truth. Why is that? My god, all this fucking whining cause an unelected Supreme Court sent the decision back States’ elected officials to decide what the people want for them. Don’t worry, you can still kill babies up to the moment birth in California and New York…thank goodness…forward thinking. It’s crazy the rest of the country won’t get onboard to change the Constitution. |
