Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins

Getting rid of Williams is the last step to officially stepping into the future. Hopefully between the end of round 1 and the start of round 2, the trade is completed. I'm so disappointed in the whole situation. Trent is one of my favorite Redskins of all times. But him and his agent (the team, pre Rivera era, shares plenty of blame too) seem to be trying to make this end as shitty as possible. Once he's done playing, I still think he'll be one of my favorite players, but this ending sucks.

Petty side of me = Keep him unless we get a 1st or high 2nd, and if not, his ass can sit out another year, if he still won't play for us;
Reasonable side of me = If we can get any thing between the 2nd and 3rd, take it;
The over it side of me = Take any fucking pick we can get through the 5th round;
Every side of me = If we can't get a 5th, sorry Trent, you're sitting out or playing for us this year. Not just giving a hall of famer in your end of prime years.

I hope it ends somewhere between reasonable and over it.

Yeah, I agree. I really like Trent. The guy gave it his all when this team really sucked. He was a true hard-playing trooper and was well-liked and respected in the locker room, by the coaches and media. I’ve heard both sides of the story and tend to believe Trent more than Bruce Allen, because Allen was a disliked by everyone, not just TW. I believe Trent more than Bruce, but both of them are very tarnished by this event.

Allen never understood that you don’t have to be liked or loved as a GM, but if you’re not a total a-hole you can be respected. Allen was not liked, he did nothing good for Redskins football for a decade, he was petty and he subverted people’s careers he considered a threat. In the rarified world of the NFL, he was considered a poor manager. Since his removal, no sports media even wants to her his opinion. Fans in DC were ecstatic that he was fired. So good riddance to him.

I hope we can make this an amicable breakup between Trent and the team. We’re get a few draft picks and he will go to a new team. For one, I’m glad this I over, because this is just pure drag on this team. It’s just a bad distraction in a rebuilding year. Goodbye and good luck to Trent!

In bold is so true. But he's gone. We're hours away from getting Chase with defensive minded coaches and other multiple 1st round picks in the front 7.

We have a solid draft this year we're a decent to solid team. Another solid draft/FA we're in the hunt.

Rivera is a great HC. We were very fortunate to land him. Kudos to Dan on that one. We can all shit on Dan, and it would be beyond warranted, but he got the right man for the job this time.

Rivera is a slightly better than .500 head coach with a losing playoff record so I'm not sure great is the adjective I'd use to describe him. Time will tell if he's the right man for the job but as long as Snyder is in charge nothing will really change.

JMO RR has learnt from his mistakes. Belichick's was not as good as RR at his first HC spot.

Belichick went 36-44 in four years with the Browns, with only one winning season.

RR is the best all around coach we have had since Joe Gibbs 2. I believe he has the right mindset to work with, not against DS, and doesn't want power as much as he wants to win, so he can focus on winning during the season and simply offer guidance in the off-season. This year is a little different with the upheaval of the front office, but going forward, I think his goal is to build a solid foundation/core and then create sustainable success.

Can it happen under DS, no one knows, but imo RR is the right man to prove it can.

Shanahan > Rivera

Shanahan > Rivera

Shanahan was a better pure coach but he was more power focused. My point was to be a successful coach with the Redskins you can't want all the power, which Shanahan did, because it will end in chaos. Joe Gibbs understood that and was content to work within the constraints of DS' personality and quirks (putting it nicely). Rivera seems like the same personality as Joe Gibbs. He has a fire and passion, but it's solely focused on winning, not who gets the credit. So I expect his run here to be less chaotic, less divisive, and more productive than Shanahan's.

Speaking of Bruce, has any media outlet even talked to the guy? Has anyone heard a peep out of him? It's like when Vinny left you knew no one would ever hire him to be in their front office. It's the same thing w/ Bruce. He's done in the NFL.

I agree with all this. RR appears to be the right guy among the available candidates and we are lucky to have gotten him imo. And I was def a Shanahans > Snyder/rg3 fan

We’ll see, it’s the honeymoon but 6-10 is def on the table for year 1. Year 2? It has to be 8-8 or 9-8 if they add that extra game
