I think I'd take this and run ...

2. Redskins trade Trent Williams to the Buccaneers
Buccaneers get: Trent Williams
Redskins get: Donovan Smith and 2020 second-round pick (45th overall)

The Buccaneers made the biggest move of the offseason by signing Tom Brady, but that move isn't going to help very much if Brady ends up getting killed behind Tampa's very average offensive line. If there's one thing the Buccaneers absolutely need to do in the next few weeks, it's beef up their line, and that's where Trent Williams comes in.

The Redskins left tackle has made it pretty clear that he doesn't want to play for the Redskins anymore, and because of that, there's a good reason we're going to see him traded at some point between now and the draft. As a matter of fact, Williams' agent, Vincent Taylor, basically gave the Redskins an ultimatum just last week.

"[Trent] wants to be traded or released. It's time for the organization to act in a manner that is in both Williams' and the team's best interest," Taylor said.

Williams probably would have already been traded if the Redskins could make up their mind on an asking price, but apparently, no one seems to know what they're looking for, which is why Tampa will make an offer that the Redskins can't refuse. In this deal, the Buccaneers will offer left tackle Donovan Smith and the team's second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Throwing Smith in the deal does two things: It means the Redskins won't have a gaping hole at left tackle and it will also clear up some cap space for the Bucs, who could then use the extra money to sign Williams to an extension.

Why would the Redskins want a mediocre/bad tackle? I would make the trade if Tampa added another pick. They could draft a tackle and add Penn for another year.

And Smith is scheduled to make $2 million more than Trent... plus Trent wants a new contract. Not going to happen.

Honestly, i dont know anything about Donovan Smith.

26 years old
2015 2R pick
70.8 PFF grade (which is good)

Cap hit of 14.5 in 2020, 14.25 in 2021 ... but if we cut him after 2020, there is 0 dead money. Basically a 1 year deal for 2020.

Is Smith demanding a new contract? sounds like Trent situation. Facing the back end of a no guaranteed money contract.

Id do it for the 2nd rounder alone. But I would also welcome Smith on a 1 year flyer for 14M.

The PFF rating I saw was much lower (2019?). If he was demanding a new contract why would the Redskins want him?

I dont know if he is demanding a new contract .. wondering why they would give a 2nd and throw this guy in there.

His contract situation sets him up as possibly wanting a new contract with more G money.

So I heard Mike Floria say this morning (I know, I'm desperate for news) what happens to these trades where physicals have not been done and involve a pick in this upcoming draft? ie David Johnson is who they were referring to. What happens if/when David Johnson could not pass his physical and the Texans reject the trade...that HAS to happen before the Cardinals use their 2nd round pick from the Texans. I was just thinking if this is yet another thing that could be holding up teams from trading for Trent, knowing he didn't pass his last physical with the Skins last season, even though we all know what that was about.

Team physicals are so subjective they’re practically meaningless

If that's true, the Texans owner should order his team doctor to flunk David Johnson.
