With the CBA, once approved, doing away with mj suspensions TW any team trading for TW won't have to worry about a 3rd strike. That should be a positive when it comes to assessing draft pick compensation.

Trent is a rested OT who will still play at a very good level at the most important position on the OL for several years. He’s got 7 pro bowls and is a team leader. Draft picks are crap shoots, especially as you go lower in the draft. Trent should easily get us a second rounder from the Dolphins or Jets. Maybe even a late first rounder from Miami.
This gets us a $72 mill cap, a second rounder which we don’t have now and sets the tone for Rivera for disgruntled players. Win-win and ends this drama which should have been dealt with competently last season.

I am pretty sure Trent did not magically turn 22 years old from sitting out a year and now will play 16 games a year for 3-4 more years. People here are acting like he is a pro bowler in the prime of his career if they think someone will give a first rounder for him, not happening. He also wants an insane amount of money for a guy who played all 16 games only twice out of 10 seasons and the last one of those he was 25 years old. Even when he suiting up and playing he was often dinged up. He is high mileage for his age, not what a lot of you are projecting.

Even with all that said, he's still a less risky proposition than any tackle coming out of the draft who has never played a down in the NFL. He'll definitely cost more though.

ill be a lil shocked if we get a first round pick, but just need one team to get desperate.
One guy I would stay away from would be Jason Peters...too old and coming off injuries last year.

Report: Cardinals, Texans have inquired about Trent Williams
Cardinals, Jets, Texans and Browns so far
Well, the Texans interest makes it easy. Just trade Williams for Laremy Tunsil.

If he ever ends up playing again he'll be broken down by week 8.

It doesn’t matter how he’ll actually play once he is traded, it’s what teams THINK he can do for them NOW. Having 7 Pro Bowls while playing for a crap team will definitely impress. He may have faded some but he has been considered an elite LT for years.
So teams can go for the “known” with Trent or draft for the unknown with most draft picks being straight busts or just team bodies until they get released at the end of their first contract. Remember the average career in the NFL is just 4 years.
I think it is very reasonable to get a second round pick for Trent with his record. A first is probably a stretch but still a possibility. This will help the Redskins in the draft, increase our cap and say with Rivera’s strategy of only keeping players who want to be here..

I will eat an economy sized plate of crow if he is traded for a first like may think.
This article also says he will become the highest paid, that is insanity considering his age and injury history.
