Also, I'm not surprised that all the new stuffs Bill brought at practice didn't make a huge difference: all it does it highlight how pathetic a coach Jay was... (music, snapchat, no sprints, no refs despite being the most penalized team etc... this is commonsense...).
I think you have to give it more than a week.

I think you have to give it more than a week. You're right. My point is I don't think it's extraordinary stuff, what's amazing is that it wasn't enforced under Jay...

I don't see any competent HC candidate, from the NFL (outside this franchise) coming to this team. Working for the Bruce Allen / Dan Snyder combination is a losing proposition - as eight other HC have found. That leaves coaches on this team right now. Either Callahan or O'Connell are the only real candidates.
Callahan will be better than Gruden but with BA/Snyder making personnel decisions the team will be handicapped heavily. No real change in the record - around a .425 level, third or fourth in the NFC East year to year. No new stadium. We need a clean 0-16 record to see the end of BA or for Snyder to give up control.

So if Miami converts a single play, 2 point conversion...are we having this conversation? Callahan would be another signal: nothing is changing and nothing ever will.

It's been said by many people around the NFL that 0-16 is in no way a guarantee that Bruce would be fired. And one of the biggest reasons that so many fans are leaving and not coming back is due to the fact that they know Bruce is going nowhere anytime soon. It was mentioned a while back that at some NFL meeting they had in the early summer, Bruce had told reporters that he had hoped to stay in the NFL 3-5 more years, at which point he would think about retiring but he would see where he was then, etc...
So figure at best case scenario, 3 more years of Bruce, worst case 5 years or more as we don't know what Dan is paying him, and Dan could make him a big offer or something to retain him here, so i guess true worst case scenario would be 5+ more years of Bruce. Bruce is in his early 60's, not ancient for NFL GM standards. It is conceivable that he could go 5 more years before calling it a day at around 70 years of age...

On what he just did Sunday,he's not much improvement trying to run the ball down the Niners throats wasn't gonna work for long and it didn't,we need some imagination on offense but we have none.

Callahan is trying to win with a retro kind of football that just can’t be successful in today’s football. The only reason this game against the 49ers was close was because rain was so heavy, in an open stadium. We also don’t have a dominate enough OL to run successfully for an entire game.
NFL Teams now are built to score points. We have some good defensive players but who are coached poorly. Our defense still can hold a good offense for awhile, but then they stay on the field too long and our opponent scores more points than we can generate with a crappy QB and a running offensive strategy.
The defense against a run heavy offense, like Callahan envisions, is simply to put eight in the box. Stack the line. This forces the QB to throw and complete passes in order to open up the defense. Keenum is incapable of doing that. He’s not a good passer. Eventually the offense has enough “three and outs” and the defense gets exhausted. We lose the game.
If Callahan was doing this strategy with Haskins, I’d understand. But neither Keenum nor McCoy is good enough to beat a stacked defense with their passing ability.
Callahan is drinking the Bruce Allen koolaid by imagining that we can win with a journeyman QB like Keenum and a run-heavy offensive strategy that hasn’t worked in a generation.
Perhaps by living in the BA alternate universe that we’re almost ready to win consistently, Callahan hopes to get the HC job.

I admit, I am confused by the apparent change in narrative.
I thought Jay was sabotaging Haskins by not playing him and/or a way to stick it to Allen/Snyder. I thought Allen/Snyder wanted Haskins starting. The Louis Riddick's of the world were directly pleeing to Dan Snyder to see Jay Gruden's "agenda".
Now that Allen has a company man in place .... Haskins may not start all year? Why isnt Louis Riddick talking about how everyone thought Jared Goff was a bum until he wasnt? Why isnt Riddick slamming Callahan for not starting Haskins?
I assume Bruce Allen was feeding Riddick "information" for Riddick to go on national TV and say Gruden had an agenda etc ... Im not a fan of Riddick. Seems hypocritical and swarmy to me.
